Nasty and filthy are synonymous with smokers,..it reeks and smells terrible on them, I can smell them from a good many feet away, and they are addicted,..so in that particular case, I'd say ,...yep.

I have read all the comments on this post as I am a smoker. Yes I do miss being able to light up after a meal but its just a minor inconvience. I have no problem with respecting someones desire not to breath in cigarette smoke.
However I do have a problem with someone saying a smoker is nasty and filthy. That is just an idiotic statement.
I have an even bigger problem with the government regulating what we as free americans can and cannot do. Our "free" days are numbered.

Ditto. There are plenty of non-smokers that have dirty, nasty habits that are just as bad for their health and the health of others too.

It's all good until is the freedom that someone else desires is the one that's on the chopping block.

First of all I am not a smoker, I may have 1 or 2 cigars a year, but I fully support smokers rights! todays age is being brainwashed that all smoking is bad. I believe it is the chemicals they use in tobacco that causes the cancer, not the tobacco itself, I grew up around too many old people that chain smoked all their lives with no problems, I am talking about 50+ years of chain smoking, & had good lungs, yes with x-rays, in the old days tobacco had lower yields, but was smoked & enjoyed, now companies manipulate the chemicals in tobacco as well as pesticides used to grow larger crops in smaller sizes.

these modern inexpensive cheap cigarretts the smoke does bother me, but the old brands didnt normally, like Pall Mall, unfiltered Camels, etc.

when I went to school, grade school students were allowed to smoke during recess, & in high school, studends needed "permission slips" from parents to smoke in school, & now it is banned at school, & today smoking is being considered "taboo"?

as for the remarks about freon, R12, the govt was trying to stop anyone from producing phosgene gas from any potential terrorist, why else? it was readily available anywhere, even K-mart sold it in the automotive section, anyone could buy it & could create dangerous gas if released in presence of a flame.

yes way too much interference by the govt into our lives, but too many people with no direct interest decides the fates of too many, let drivers not govt write the rules, any politician that has never been behind the wheel should never pass laws to affect those of which they have no personal understanding of, if they have not been in those circumstances how can they know whats "safe" or "unsafe" because it looks good on paper.

I have been in & around the automotive scene as well as motorcycle scene, & a few truckers, all my life, & have seen so many stupid laws passed that shouldnt have, by people that think something looks unsafe, but really isnt.

    well freedom isn't free.
and if the people let the govt run amuck and don't keep them in check, they will take over.

The people need to care, and i think the new generation really does not care about politics. Or maybe they gave up on politics, because it is so hopeless. they are all a bunch of crooks.

and when that happens, the govt will see what they can get away with.

So, my rights to breathe smoke free air are the same as the smokers?

As a smoker I have no problem with not smoking indoors in public places. I get the fact that even if the non smoking customer can choose not to go into a place the non smoking employee of that place doesn't have the same choice. I stopped taking my cigarettes with me into restaurants long ago.

I have no problem with people making silly generalizations and assumptions about smokers and pee bombs. Everyone has the right to be blissful.

What I do have a problem with is the anti-smoking nazis who want to say I can't smoke in my truck because it is a work place. I also have a problem with the ones who are trying to get smoking banned in the public park where I live. In many cases it has gone far beyond protecting the non smoker from second hand smoke.
