You should quit trucking, And try some other line of work and see if the grass is greener...... Your making a pay check. Lots of folks are out of work and are having a hard time feeding their family. Its called adapt and over come.

I made a huge mistake going with Werner. Worst company I have ever been associated with. I have not met one, not one, person that works for them that likes it. The company lies, cheats, and steals from its drivers and give absolutely no respect to a new driver or a driver of 27 years with them. I have completed their training program and am now a qualified driver. I plan on quitting as soon as I get home. I can not believe that people work for this company or could even say it is a good company. They must not know anything else. I feel sorry for anyone that stays with Werner. You are abused and must suffer from stockholms syndrome.

Sorry to hear you don't like the trucking industry. Here's the deal they use you and you use them. I just started working for them. Did I get a nice new truck, no. Did I get my own truck and been put to work, yes. Did I make it home for Thanksgiving, absolutely ! If you are just starting out I hate to tell ya, but all these trucking company's are the same. I need to work and have been paid every week. I'm not going to get rich here, but I will get experience.

Figured I would throw in my 2 cents.

Got started with werner 06/02/10 two days after finishing CDL class and the day after quitting the only job I've had since I was 16 as a pinsetter technician at a bowling alley.

Orientation was a breeze, it doesn't take an intellectual juggernaut to get through, but I saw some drivers struggling nonetheless. I finshed 4 hours before anyone else so I got dibs on the first non-smoking trainer rolling through indianapolis for that batch of scrubs.

My first trainer was ####. Didn't know how to train, had a pete 379, was an O/O, wouldn't let me back, and I couldn't understand a word he said over the jaw full of redman (1-2w pouches a day). Took PTO to get off his truck, got a decent trainer, and was solo by 08/01/10.

Started out midwest regional, which was crap for miles, 1.5k was an overwhelmingly good week. Got a temporary assignment to wal-mart, which was phenominal. Got a temporary assignment to family dollar, which wass pretty meh. Then, the sun came out to shine down upon me and I got a permenant assignment to RR Donnelley hauling printed materials and mail loads 11/04/10. 3k-4k miles a week, taking home more than $800 a week on 29CPM, and I'm home every other week when I want to be.

This isn't a horrible company if you grit your teeth, are willing to earn your green horn, pull your head out of your ###, and take what other drivers say with a grain of salt. 90% of the problems most drivers have with this company are the same problems they'd be having with any other puppy mill. I'm sure werner only gets such a bad wrap since it is large enough to kick 60 morons to the curb every week and they go home and baww about it online instead of looking for a new job.

I had forgotten that I even stated this thread...lol Glad to see it is still going.
I ended up going with Maverick pulling Flats. I have run into the Werner Flat Bed guys only once. They were both very nice!

Well, that's funny, they were expanding it while I was running on that board from June-August this year. Its only about 50 trucks, but they've been adding O/O's as fast as they can get them to sign up and get through training in Omaha. It worries me a bit that they're trained better than some of the mid-sized flatbedding outfits on the east coast though.

Just saw a company truck sitting under a load at the Indianapolis terminal today. First I've personally seen.
