They will pay for some repairs, but for little things. Mudflaps, lights, etc they would much rather save the money.
Half the time I fix my own trailers, if it is a fairly easy fix and does not need many parts.
Wiring is fairly easy. Air leaks can be fixed on the road to get you to a shop. If I can do it I will. Just saves me time and thus makes me more money.
Even stupid stuff like the ABS light coming on. Look for the issue, many times you can find it.
Allot of the time it is just the plug to the sensor undone.
To find it look at your tandoms.
Find a wire going into your brake. it will just be into one.
Then find where that connects. it will normally be within 10 inches of the drum.
They work loose allot. Especially in ice and snow.
TA would charge for a new one plus min 1 hour shop time. This is after waiting for who know how long for them to look at it.

i'm betting a lot of companies aren't fixing there stuff like they used too. DOT would have a hayday if they knew how many trucks weren't getting fixed due to lack of funds.

Where at in NJ? I will be in Cranbury, NJ and then Lakewood, PA tomorow, Look for a Gold pete 379 with 8 inch bull hauler stacks covered in chicken lights and chrome, 4 sets of train horns, 108 inch sleeper with COLT Trucking on the doors pulling an Inovative logistics trailer, that's my ride. I'm probably making JJ jealous, HA HA. This truck is nicer than my house

I just need to convince my boss to get these seats

Hope everyone has a happy, safe, profitable 2011.

I am leaving early today, and get a a few miles down the road, because traffic is gonna suck tomorrow as all the idiots head home.

I have pork tenderloin and saurkraut in my lunchbox oven, let that go for a few hours and I will have a ####### dinner tonight

Sounds like a nice ride. How'd you luck into such a comapny with limited experience? Find it hard to get into some of them east coast areas with that big, luxurious sleeper that I am totally envious of? Heck, I'd stay out for weeks to have something that big!!!!!

Belive it or not but I answered a ad on craigslist for owner op needs a driver for dedicated run. Turns out the place I pick up from is less than a mile from my house, and goes to cranbury, NJ to d&H then load in Lakewood, PA back to the place in Ohio. I work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wed, and then am off Thursday, Friday and Sat at home unless he asks me to take an extra turn. He just has 7 trucks, they were all from moving companies. I don't have a qualcomm, or prepass, not governed I got it up to 85 before I had to back off it got scary rolling at that speed but I have no doubt this truck will go over 100. I get paid a flat rate of $750 a week but I have to pay my own taxes as it's a 1099 job. But I am not complaining, it's nice not to have to wonder how much you are going to make.
