I have been with a company since August of '06. Was taking home anywhere from $700-$1,000 a week. All of a sudden, the bottom fell out around the holidays and I cant seem to get more than $550. Granted, I am home on the weekends, but I just think I should be making more to be away from home for 5 days.

I'm averaging about a $950 after taxes/insurance. Some weeks I get a little less, some a bit more. Depending on how I WANT to run that week. And I don't run illegal.

We have a terminal in the Hickory area, drop me a line.:biggrin_25519:

Its not that bad, consider when you work local unless you run logbook or drive outside of your county, you don't get the standard perdeim allowance. You do pay your taxes and ssi and medicare,on the road you get a standard 54 a day or 75% of that,I look at this as if 5 days at 40.50 thats 200 bucks a week credit toward your taxes. I f you carry a cooler and run a microwave you can bank some of that expense. Plus I have plenty of freedom on the road, and if something comes up i can work more and take 3 or 4 days off with the family. Locally I never could,1st day off I spent resting,2nd tried to enjoy family gatherings, then back to work. Everyone is different though, right? It works for me.

Unfortunately, my company requires that you live within a 50 mile radius to run regional or local.:biggrin_25513:

Sux I know, I was VERY lucky myself. Before I hired on, they run the math. I was 50.3 miles from the terminal....
