Well my Husband has been with "Knight" (Red Swift) for 4 months, and has sat for a total of 3 weeks, with "No Loads" they are claiming! So imo I would say that:
1) Dispatcher
2) Recruiters
3)Butt Kissers
and VERY last...
4) maybe the guy/girl is really a driver, but DOUBT it!
Do not work for knight transportation!!!

Illinois/Indiana/Ohio... I'm not going to tell you which one exactly... it's called incriminating yourself.

Bad part of having to drive late in the day or at night is that it's next to impossible to find a place to park and Knight will terminate a driver for parking on an on or off ramp. Then you have to illegally drive to your early morning appointment. It's always at the expense of the driver's personal CDL, cost of fines and threats of termination. Knight accepts no responsibility for their "do it or else" dispatching.
In my own opinion, the fact that it may be a Mormon company has nothing to do with the fact that the dishonesty, poor management, lack of caring for their drivers starts at the top and funnels all the way down to each terminal.
Chicago Mgr told me that they purposely hired driver mgrs directly out of college, junior college or graduates of a tech school. Thus, they can train the way they want and they don't have to pay a lot as Knight would be their first job out of school. NONE and I mean NONE of our driver managers had even sat in a truck much less, driven or gone on some runs with drivers. They were totally clueless as to what happens on the road or CDL requirements. This caused many, many problems with their BS (Rand McNally) computer miles, real world miles and the ability to honestly log and run the loads given. They frequently routed through non-truck routes, had no clue to construction zones, state highway speeds, etc. Sitting for 3 weeks out of 4 months is their excuse that you better make it or you may be sitting some more.
I said once before here in a post that the FMCSA could have a field day with this company but they seem to turn their heads to the false logging due to forced and bribery dispatching. The fines alone might even bail out our national deficit.
Let some of those gung ho State of Minnesota DOT cops start checking them with their brand new "sleep deprived" rules and procedures.
Knight may not be the worst place to work but they sure are in the upper percentage of lies, cheating, mismanagment and deplorable conditions for most of their drivers and their families trying to survive in tough times. Think about that $145 paycheck (mentioned above) and then sitting 3 weeks out of 4 months. Illegal border crossers, fast food workers and WalMart greeters make more money and can be sleeping in their own beds without someone telling them they're wasting fuel staying warm.truckerdave1970 Thanks this.
