been a Gordon driver for 4 years now. I kind of regret it now!! this was a great company to work for!!! now it is all about corporate greed in a big way!!!!! they are so afraid of lawsuits it is almost funny to watch the big wigs here!! building anther multi million dollar Gordon home!! i come through the pacifica Washington main terminal most of the time. they got there old trucks most with a million miles on them that they can not sell or even give away!! they brag about there new cascadia freightliner truck but miss spec. them they are all way to heavy to put 44,000lbs load on them on top of that these trucks have on board electronic logs built in them and qualcomm these truck are like BABYSITTERS ON STEROIDS TRUCKS!!! the driver that they put in these truck don't stay very long with the company because they get fired for log violations!!!! one truck i personally know in the last 3 months it has had 4 drivers fired out of it because of the electronic log Heaven know about the rest of the truck that have this dam thing in it!!!!!! all they need next is robots to drive them!!!! mileage is getting lower and lower it is all about safety is what they tell you! you spend most of your time at one of there great shipping customers if you are lucky you are out of a shipper in 3 hours if it is a general mills load i have been stuck there 14 hours getting one load legal detention pay you might get paid for 4 hours of that even doing the hourly qualcomm update!! and yes you have to flag that as on duty not driving time!!!! no if or butts!!!!! STEVE GORDON has F#%k this company up so bad this place is a revolving door for drivers now and if you think you will make good money here think again!!
to prove how cruel and hostile to drivers this company has become and yes if anything goes wrong here now it is all the drivers fault its oh you must not have done your pre or post trip so on and so on
but were there true cruelty shines is gordon and haney both owned 50% of a company called cascade express i use to pick up loaded trailer in there yard fast pop off the freeway drop and hook and back on the road
well gordon some how got 100% of cascade express and i was in that yard and the gordon's have just gutted this company i talked to one of cascade's drivers and this guy was pissed he said he had almost 30 years driving and all gordon was going to give him credit for was less then 6 years at .34cpm the man said he would not turn a key on in a truck for that wage and the fact that the gordon's had force most of the driver to just quit or found some nit picky thing to get rid of them!!
then i sit back in this truck and think back when i started with this company and what has happened to it with all the lawsuits against it an all!! i do not wear a gti hat no mow i got no pride left for this company
i got a better job with a company in ltl to drive for!!
this is just the tip of the ice berg about what goes on in this company when dispatch messes up who do you think gets the blame?? can you say the driver!! like most companies when they are small they are great to work for but this one it has went to hell in a hand basket very fast!!
word for thought 90% of the lease purchased trucks here the drivers never make it to that 36th month gordon finds a way to bump you off seen plenty of that here too!!
recommend this company no!! it is filled with people in the office that think that all they have to do is make up all these grand rules and regs and everything will work like clock work!! funny thing is is how this world how nature and Murphy's law always gets in there way then they sit back and say what happend it must be the drivers fault!!
at gordon trucking gti you are not nor will you ever be a name!!!! this is a GOD given cold hearted FACT you are and always will be a 9 digit number

First of all if the drivers are getting log violations that is the drivers fault not the company!! This seems to be a one post wonder who is whining.
-
I do know it wasn't long ago folks were jumping over each-other TO work for Gordon.
-
yes if you run over your 11 / 14 hour rule then yes it is the drivers fault
what i am trying to say gordon is at the point that they do not care if a driver sits at a shipper for 2 to 14 hours!! that truck is going to get detention pay while the drive gets the shaft in the end!! then if you move you truck off of the shippers property (you should know this most shippers or receiver do not or will not let you take a 10 break on or in there DC or yard or terminal what ever you wish to call it! )
it is at that point you are pegged for a log book violation do you see the pickle in this?? and when you try to explain what had happened all you get is it all about safety!!
when in todays economy were drivers are a dime a dozen gordon is not looking for drivers that have maybe 4 to 10 years or more experience
not when they can get them out of these CDL mills and pay them .26cpm
they have orientation weekly what does that tell you about longevity at Gordon?? there 4 axle fleet is well known to be called the starvation fleet
and if you do not get on one of the dedicated runs you end up on there 48 state fleet can you say i will sit in my truck when i am MT and there is no back haul???
again i will say this this WAS A GREAT COMPANY TO WORK FOR!!! HANDS DOWN THE BEST!!! NOT NOW UNDER STEVE GORDON THIS MAN IS INTO HIMSELF MORE THEN GTI AND ITS DRIVERS!!!
they have taken away from the driver holiday pay, drop and hook pay and you will never get full detention pay all you will ever get here is cents per mile GOD help you if you have to move that truck if you been at a shipper over your 14th hour!!!! look up their fmcsa safety record then ask your self if i get one of there hot loads and push it to not get on your DM's #### list you do not win you can win
again i say while i worked there before all this change it WAS A GREAT COMPANY TO WORK FOR THE BEST!!!
NOT NOW!!!!! -
i know what your talking about
-
I am assuming Beep Beep doen't work here anymore.
I won't comment on the company, but I gotta tell ya, every driver I talk to here is freindly, very rare to you not get a wave by oncoming gti trucks, or the light flash when passing.
Most companies are going paperless logs...I personlly do not agree with it, but it is the way things are going...remember when every1 said they'll never work for a company with Q-comm?
My vote repeal the 14hour rule -
Yea, you probably work in recruiting Brasspro. Are they paying you to say that? Wish I had your job! Yes, the Drivers are Cool, it's just the company that doesn't wave. Why should they,Drivers are starting to fight back! Truckdrivers out of Washington are now entitled to Overtime,, on March 2nd, 2012 a State Judge ruled that and the case is going to trial. If you work for GTI you should check into it, It's a matter of public record, @ the Pierce County Superior Court.

Now you have a whole 10 to do that!
As to getting rid of the 14 what do you propose? 15, 20, 24 or 10?
That's all you need is another bunch of idiots that make rules but don't live in them changing a system that is way better than it was since they came up with the joke called HOS!
Yes, even those get rid of the 34 restart! OH! MAN! reset the hours after taking the weekend off? That's 100% better than having those 2 zeros come and haunt you later! And it took 48 hours not 34 to get rid of them unless you wanted to go ahead and take however many you could work like 1- 10 hours and scrape by in a pig sty truck stop or dirt field because that's where those hours ended until you could get a 10 hour day back!
Yeah many of us old guys didn't want to see the HOS change because we had a hard enough time learning the old rules and some never did! No sheet! I know a few that could drive a truck up a building and parallel park it on the roof! But HOS? Yeah, add 2+2 and get 22!
What do you think should be done with the 14? Do that and you'll get your off duty screwed to make up with that OR take your 11 hours and remove that 1 extra working hour away as CRASH, MADD and TADD wants to do to your working time!
What do you want? Less hours to make money or less hours to rest and get your eating, bathing, feeding, personal daily maintenance done?
I'll gaurantee that the lobbyists will be all over the law makers about killer drivers that get no rest because companies push them to the limits! OR the lawyers that will sue the hello out of you and the company because you went 1 minute over your 14 hour driving limit.
That 14 is whats keeping you from getting bent by that BFI you're driving for!
If you think Cents Per Mile is worth this crapola you're in now being paid 70s and 80s wages when the cost of living has skyrocketed and those bosses get their COLA but you get screwed over HOS and pay?
You're doing better where the HOS are! You can't show me where you'll do any better except for when these tight wad owners come off the "Me the Boss you the peon" wage system!
Look at who goes home after a nice 8 hour day and you work 98* hours a week for what? CRAP! Yeah, ask for a change down to say an 8 hour day like the owners and bosses and dispatchers and see what happens.
Teams.
And I for one do not play well with others when crammed in a closet and do not sleep well with rookies and others driving on bumpy roads. Been there done that.
* The 98 hours is if you put in a full 14 hour day 7 days a week, BUT do not drive your full 11. Yes it can be done! That's a lot of time sitting on a dock or waiting for some dispatcher that couldn't get from his desk to the coffe pot without making a wrong turn much less keep 60 trucks running at their best capacity!drvrtech77 Thanks this. -
Under the old system your drive time was not penalized by delays at Shprs and REcvrs. I could drive 8hrs go to a grocery whse for 6hrs
and still be ble to drive to a truck stop or pu another load and log sleeper for 2 hrs and be rolling down the street.
You could run 5 on 5 off which I liked to do when driving in bad weather or 8 on and 8 off which I used to do when running at nite.
Trucks where always coming and going and not frozen for 10hrs strait or sitting because their 14 was done.
All they needed to do was add the restart and I would of been happy under the old system.
When they changed the rules and only gave you 3hrs after going to line 4 before you started loosing drive time everyone at my company got a 3 penny raise because they new are income would drop and it did even with the raise because most of the loads I got assumed you where coming off break even if you only had a few hrs left to drive. So I was finding myself behind trying to catch up because of the inflexabilty in when you could drive . I am sure many drivers are now used to del in the am and getting dp to pu in the pm on a load that needs to run more hrs then you have left or fall behind and then make it up the next day and then be screwed on another pu because you started your 14 at 3am.
I never had to stop short in the old days to make sure I had a 10hr break before del or could find a place to park for 10hrs.
Getting rid of the split sleeper and cramming 11hrs into 14 did nothing to promote safety. Not everyone is the same and the cookie cutter HOS they have now penalizes you if you shut down for weather or experience delays.
And the new one that the unions and the 4wheeler groups want are even worse and will just force more trucks onto the road run by drivers making even less.Last edited: Mar 4, 2012

In 2003 we changed to the 14 hour clock. It used to be 15. You could also split your sleeper birth then. It was 15 hours on, 10 hours drive time and 8 hours off. There was no 34 hour restart either.
