Kenworth by my vin number says on rear axle from top of rear end housing to the bottom of the bumper block on frame 3 1/4 inches. I have 270 wheel base don' know if that matters but overhang should not matterXtreme said: ↑I just bought a 2002 Kenworth T800. I was told the suspension was upgraded from the AG100 To the AG200. I was wondering what the proper ride height for the suspension is. Frame to center of axle is?????
Next issue; the truck is a grapple truck with a lot of overhang past the rear axle. I am worried that the drive train angle is off due to the overhang. I had to put a lot of work into the u joints and input/output pinion shafts and bearings on the power divider. The height control valves are on the rear axle. Should I be concerned that the forward drive axle is too low affecting drive shaft angle. It is a little lower than the rear; not much but noticeable.
Thanks In Advance,
Jake

Thank you for all the response. I appreciate the advice and input.
After speaking with the dealer the suspension I have is a ag200 upgraded to an ag400
The proper ride height is 9 inches from center of axle to bottom of frame.
On to something more interesting. Overhang does have an effect on drive shaft angle. While the ride height is not as important. Let me finish before everyone banishes me from this site. I had to explain this to the dealer and they agreed. The truck was a milk truck before being converted to a grapple truck. So what happens when you put a 7500lb boom 10 feet past the center of the drives? It lifts the front end up. This changes the center of gravity and because its an 8 bag air the truck tilts back. Leaving my front drive lower than spec and my rear drive higher. I actually drew a diagram to show how this tweaks everything. It would be the equivilant of sliding a fifth wheel back directly over or past your rear drive.
So what's the solution? Thankfuly I have a tag that levels everything off. Unfortunatey the dealer recommended that I run with it down even when empty. -
We are going to see if we can also remove some sp
acers in the front end. I already have 385s so I don't think we can go any smaller for tires. Any other suggestions? Short of the real fix, which would be moving the whole suspension back and having two pushers

that smiley was supposed to go at the end. Sorry I'm typing on a phone

Which drive axle is the levelling valve attached to? If it is attached to the front drive move it to the rear drive axle. Your set up is similar to many wreckers and you need to move your fulcrum as for to the rear as possible.Xtreme said: ↑So what's the solution? Thankfuly I have a tag that levels everything off. Changing valve from axle to axle has no effect on fulcrum point of an empty truck. How I load the truck does. Now, you are correct that changing valve from axle to axle will change ride height when I am loaded, and in return could have slight effect on angle when loaded. The issue though is the fact that the truck is set up out of balance when empty. Changing valve from axle to axle when empty doesn't do anything.

Not trying to hijack Xtreme's thread, but just a quick question and will start a new thread if needed.
Have a '00 900B with Neway AD252 suspension. Specs call for 10" ride height.
Where do i measure the 10"? Thanks...

As I understand it is a difference from no air in springs and normal level... 10" - 254 mm...
