1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I'm employed with a mega carrier but looking for another co. Have made a list, visited some websites, made a list of 70 questions, called some cos. sent a few emails... but so far nothing. I hope I'm wrong but it seems it's not going to be easy to find a co. I'm a little picky and have some conditions. I want to find the right co. where I can stay comfortable for at least a couple more years. Have been driving tractor trailer, dry van, 53' long for the same co. since April/08 and learned a little. I know what I want and not want. My co. would be ok if they would pay some more (I'm still making between .28 to .32 cpm) and if they didn't have the absurd idle policy they have (no more than 30 % a week). Actually I want a co. with APU cause many places and states don't allow iddling and I am sick and tired of being tortured, living in a truck when temp is bellow freezing.... My co. would be ok if we were not so exploited some times when we run WalMart store loads and work basicly for free (they guarantee us 2500 miles per week with reset almost every weekend but no extra for multiple stops, no detention and no local pay), and if we didn't have the mandatory per diem... Besides, my co. has been installing eletronic logs in all their new trucks... I know all the trucking industry will be eletronic eventually but I am looking for one that doesn't plan on those elogs for at least the next 2 years... I also want a co. that will let me take 7 days off after I stay 7 or 8 weeks on the road. And take time off at the co. terminal, where I can park the truck for maintenance and check in a hotel for a week. I want a co. with a terminal in TN or FL cause I'm thinking about changing my ID to one of those states so that I don't have to pay state taxes anymore, since I don't have a home or family anywhere. And I want a co. that has PrePass/ EZPass (paid by co.). And trucks with standard transmission, no automatic, and governed at 67 mph or faster... These are my main conditions... If anybody has any idea that can help plz let me know. I'll keep my research and will prepare some resumes. Thx.

I dunno,in this job market,(even for truckers)I dont think its a good idea to have ALL those conditions...If you really want most things your way, maybe consider being an owner??

Nope, sure is not hard at all to have that many years, what is hard is to have that many years and NOT know where to get a job at.

    Just sayin.
