So in the last 4 days I have driven a whopping 250 miles. Got a 135 miles load out of Gary on Sunday after sitting there since Thursday, only to get to the customer this morning and find them closed. Now I have been sitting at the next shipper for the last 4 hours waiting for my 'pre-loaded trailer'. My take home for 3 of my last 4 paychecks will be less than $250. And to be honest since I have started only about every other paycheck has been acceptable.
I was willing to put up with for a while because I do like Roehl as a company, but I think this has done it for me. Time to move on.
Oh man am i fed up

I'd be talking to the ops supr first. I'd try one more dispatcher change before quiting. It is a slow time of the year too. Are they paying you detention?

And DO be careful.,as I am looking for another gig myself..,but if your not CAREFUL,start preparing another thread..
mycorky and rocknroll nik Thank this. -
I would not look for a sympathetic ear from Eric who is over the dispatchers or even his boss. I've dealt with both and the attitude is "we're going to do what we want and if you don't like it, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Right now is not a good time for freight. You have the holidays and then end of the year inventory. It should start picking up within the next week or so. I am not a Roehl apologist, but everytime I look to make a change I find I wouldn't be any better somewhere else. I know it really sucks right now, but I would recommend sticking it out for a year. It will look a lot better on your resume. One more piece of advice that my dad gave me, "Make your decisions based on the climate, not the weather." Don't decide on one or two bad months, base your decision over the entire past.childerscarl1 Thanks this. -
This is the slowest time of the year for freight. Another thought that comes to mind is you made somebody mad or were late or something to that effect. This sounds like they are planning a "sit and quit"! This is where they starve you of miles until you quit. Either way you need to talk to head of dispatch and find out what is going on. It really isn't a good move to quit at 6months, especially being a new driver. You will find it very difficult to find a decent carrier to hire you. Unless you are planning on Swift or Werner. However you will be in the same boat just a different name on the trailer! Take the bull by the horns and get this problem solved!
