Really? How do you know if I have looked at a lease or not? How do you know if I was fleased or not? Assuming?

    Statement 1).
I want to work for a company that allows me to rent their equipment while I pay for maintenance and upkeep, fuel, and other expenses. I also like the fact that I am not allowed to take the truck with me if I can't make money at the current company that I rented a truck from. What makes it better is that the same company that I rented my truck from controls my loads. I better watch out and not get anyone angry back at the office. After all, it is "my" truck.

    Statement 2).
I saved enough money over the years and purchased my own truck. It is very nice, clean, and brand new. The truck is currently compliant on all environmental and noise laws. I pay for my own insurance, tags, license, registration, IFTA, fuel, etc. I am able to take my truck where ever I want to. If I can't make a profit at one company, then I have the freedom to apply to another company to haul freight for. The best part of me TRUELY owning my own truck? I can set the engine specs and not have to worry about a company mechanic tampering with MY engine.

    ********************

This is just an example of how to separate desperate truck drivers from ones who were patient and saved their money to purchase their own trucks. Why would you pay someone else's bills? Is anyone else sick of hearing the LEASE OPERATORS calling themselves OWNER OPERATORS? (I've heard 7 people personally call themselves O/O's at truckstops; come to find out the trucks that they're leasing belong to the company that they work for). Yes, you pay the bills. No, you don't own anything since you're still paying the company for "your" truck.

No wonder these companies are so successful. There are alot of "special geniuses" in this world. If I were to establish a company where I can take advantage of many drivers while turning HUGE profits, then places like this forum would be the first areas where I would recruit from. Read around and you will see what I mean.

    Bye-bye.

Heavy dude, your not reading all the posts,I stated in an early post that that is the exception and not the norm.If i had a 100000 dollars to throw down on a truck I would be there in a heartbeat. Not debating that at all,Im just saying there are benefits to leasing as opposed to buying thats all.Read the posts before you go off on a rant. There is no doubt if you buy outright that is the way to go.Very few truck drivers are in a position to do that. Some leases are benificial to all involved, fits my situation well.I make money, the company makes money.everybody is happy.I drive a 2011 Pete/387.Very nice truck.A year from now Ill turn it in,with no money out of pocket and ask for another.Anything wrong w/that.And all the expenses that I incur along the way Ill write off, same as a true O/O.I just dont have to worry about any of the headache sthat a true O/O has to worry about.Such as what happens if I fall behind on my payments,or what happens if there is a major mechanical problem that is no longer under warranty.Works for me.And as far as proving it,there is no way to prove that.A lot of O/o fail,as do a lot of lease drivers.Im in a good situation because I can walk away at any time.A true O/O doesnt have that luxury. Some O/o make less than lease drivers because of all kinds of factors.Brokers ripping them off, major mechanical problems, slow freight, high fuel costs, the list goes on and on.I have the luxury of not having to worry about any of those things. And as far as you telling me anything it says your a student,REALLY.

I hear ya! I have an opinion of Leasing from hundreds if not thousands of conversations over the years with drivers who have gone this route. What really gets me is folks like froggy who tell us who know better how good it is, how much money they make, ect. Yet when asked to prove it~the best they got is Blah,Blah,Blah. Or nonsense like "I can take time off when I want" :biggrin_25513:

This just shows you think you know more than you do. Example: My truck is paid for, so I could " walk away" just like you. Only with a major difference~I'll sell mine and put the cash in my pocket, you will walk away with nothing.

LMAO,Jim do you know me,no,so how do you know anything about me.What do you want me to prove. Some guys can make it work, some cant.So whats your point,do you want me to tell you what I made last year.Or are you trying to say that O/o havent failed also.Never said it was better than being an O/o.Just said its how I choose to go.Do you guys just make general statements w/out actually reading and understanding the statements.:biggrin_25526:

Wrong again Heavy dude,if i finish a lease, which I have I get all the escrow that has accumulated on the truck. And whats the point of paying off the truck if you just gonna sell it?What is the general lenght of a note on a new truck?
