whats up with the big exhaust extension's

some of you driver's have added large bore exhaust extensions to your stock exhaust and it look's great ,if the difference from stock to large bore is hiddin by the heat shield or the total system was replaced from the y pipe up. but the majority of the truck's that I see it is so obvious four or six inch pipe's up to the muffler and even past the muffler, and then this huge stack or at the top is this huge eight or ten inch 90 degree elbow or staight pipe cut off at a 45 that stick's out like a sore thumb. sorry guy's and gal's but if your in a freightliner classic,
379 pete , or a w-900 kw and have 4 to 6 inch stock exhaust and then it go's to 8, 10, or 12 inch then I'm laughing my ### off !

What's worse than the above is a ups or fed x of abf truck with a 1 foot chrome 90 degree elbow with a 10 inch diameter ! really ,is that supposed to look cool ?

 

I really can't believe that the short extension's help fuel mileage, now a complete system with high flow muffler's or baffeled stack's would be a advantage. One guy told me his boss put it on ( short stack large bore} for emission's regulation's. I walked away trying to keep a straight face !

 

I suppose what you say is possible, I really don't know, most of the one's I have seen look like something you would get at a chrome shop to dress up the truck and it fit's over the stock stack going from 4 or 6 inch I.D up to whatever, still it look's odd
