Here's the deal, a truck driver mill is a lot like a puppy mill, sure it looks good and its fast but you're going to owe the school money. Unless you can pay upfront, that makes things a little better. Then your first year you may not make too much, 30-40k depending on how the company is you go with. Now, you're at a company and you realize their trucks are governed, 60-65mph for you, this is frustrating.
Trust me it's not as cool or as glamorous as you might think. There was a guy at an Iam's plant in Nebraska that tried to hit me because I told him this is where security told me to park my trailer. Of course he was given a real ### kicking for being stupid, and then when I asked for charges to be filed no one would call the police because, "We've known that man for years and he would never do that"
Get ready, it's an interesting world.

That is interesting, should people ask companies if their trucks are governed? With highway speeds being what they are, does this not create a safety issue for you and others on the road???

ALWAYS ask what the trucks are governed at. Companies claim its for fuel mileage and insurance reasons. Most truck wrecks on the highway start at half a million.

just about any company that is willing to hirea new driver is going to govern there trucks. Most companies are set at 62mph. But they range from 57mph-78mph.
You can ask.....But it really dosent matter, there isnt anything you can do about it. Luckiley I work for a Company with Fast trucks so I dont get stuck behind everyone.
And Yes it does create a safety issue particularly with Road Rage, drivers like snieder drivers can do 62 with the peddal or 60 on the cruise so all day every day they get passed, and B****ed at on the radio, So hes always going to be pressed for time and trying to push the peddal through the floor so when someone slower then him slows him down he will ushally do something stupid.
And putting along at 55mph in a big truck while 100's of cars are flying by at 75mph+ isnt safe either...

The flip side to that equation: if you're in a big ol' chicken truck, you need to be careful while rolling up at speed on other drivers. Back in the day, I would always back off the 90-m.p.h. cruise control before passing other trucks, especially trucks in line. Some hands aren't sufficiently experienced to judge the speed of overtaking trucks in their mirrors, and they are likely to pull out in front of another driver at the last second, not out of spite but out of ignorance. A dangerous situation indeed, and the cause of more than one heller truck wreck.
