Hi from Nevada

    Hi all!!

    yes, another newbie here... just got my cdl with tanker, dbl and triple endorsements... am working on the haz mat endorsement as well. I have done construction all my life, but that industry is pretty much dead in nevada... so here i am about to be 40 and starting a new career. I am really glad i found this forum, i am learning a lot reading the threads...

    If anyone has any guidance or advice i would greatly appreciate it!

    thanks everyone! i am definitely getting an education reading everything on this forum!! i feel like i am learning a whole different language and culture... :)

    It IS a whole new language and culture... a separate reality, in fact. Never needed a TWIC card, but I think it's "Transportation Worker Identification Card"---might be wrong, some other hand will let you know. Drivers need TWIC cards to get into ports, certain government facilities, etc. Another post-9/11 measure, if I recall correctly, designed to weed out terrorist truck bombers. Application for TWIC requires time and money, although some companies will walk you through the process. Doesn't hurt to have one, as some companies won't hire you without one, unless you're willing to immediately apply for one.
