What I can figure from my meter readings, the block heater on my c15 only draws about a dollar to dollar fifty for 12 hours. Its worth it to me for it to be warm all night long. I know that didnt answer the question, just info.

I went through the "Christmas Light" style of timers, and they'd get a little too warm for my liking. So I jumped up to a Intermatic Timer rated at 40 amps (if I remember correctly). The timer lives in a nice weather proof box that's been mounted to the side of my garage. Purchased mine at a swimming pool supply house.
I did a quick google and found an Intermatic T101 24 Hour Dial Timer. Looks nearly identical to the one I have.

Hello Kalh7: if you know the rating of your block heater, the rest is easy.
Seems like most heaters for 15L range motors is 1500 watts.
1500 divided by 120 (volts) is 12.5 amps
120/1500=12.5
Whatever the watts is divide by the volts will give you the amperes...

Most pull about 1200 - 1500 watts. That equates to about 10 - 13 amps

I would say that it operates at 2,000 watts on 120Volts based on the area where I live. (Canada)
2000 divided by 120 = 16.666 Amps is the draw. -
I use an outdoor outlet on a 15 amp circuit when I'm plugged in... that same circuit also runs my 35" CRT television and all my living room lights.... never blows the breaker.

Since you brought it up it will tonight. -
It did a few weeks ago... my mother-in-law lives upstairs during the summer and is a snow bird in the winter. She was home for Christmas... in my living room... and cold. My wife plugged in a 3500W heater and pointed it at her...poof!
