I started out as an O/O during the bottom of this recession when I was having trouble finding a decent company driver job. I had just one year of experience, but had also experience driving a box truck with my brother.
So, by combining all that together, I was able to get insured, and then I bought a truck. Besides a relatively clean CDL record, that's the key O/O element really--ability to get insurance--and of course, CDL record and insurance are related in terms of price. The rest is bureaucratic paperwork that government clerks are generally helpful enough if you can get through to them.
As a team drivers you will make better use of your time on the road, make more money, and have more time to share at home.

Their are 2 types of 0/0's. Those who are independant and those who are company drivers that think they are owner operators
Lady K Thanks this. -
I thought there was only one type of owner operator. The ones whom owned their trucks outright. The rest of you are still on a lease, even if your buying it through a bank, the banker is still telling you to drive.

Just had to say stocktonhauler that was well said. Wish I could afford to buy my own truck and trailer I would be out there in a heart beat if I could do it.

I usually make some freetime to get my nails and my feet done. Most of my free time I spend shopping though. I also sometimes go to see a movie. Once I parked my truck at a truck flags and went to six flags.

From your mouth to God's ear!! We are thinking about 2 years time - saving up $$ so that we won't have to 'lease'. Question - do you have your own trailer? Or just hook up to who's ever load your hauling?
-
Now that sounds nice. Would be nice to cook ur own food once in awhile and have a dog for companionship.
-
I do my feet as well. I take sandpaper and rub on them for awhile... what do you do with your feets?
-
Lol I dont do anything to my feet. I pay someone else $50 to do them,
