My first thread gotta lose my forum cherry
I have been back from Marshfield for almost a week now and yesterday I got set up with my first trainer. I am leaving saturday am, it was going to be a longer wait to get a trainer cause they didnt have one coming close to Minneapolis so I decided to drive to Wisconsin to meet the trainer and get my new career rolling. I am going to be driving van when its all said and done, but due to trainer numbers I get to start with a flatbed. That should be interesting, always something new to learn.
Anyone out there in the Evo's or already been through got any suggestions for me I would love to hear them. For now its just alot of packing and wondering.
I will try to keep this thread going with updates on the Evo's but it might be hard without a laptop
Starting evo 1 on Saturday

you going flatbed otr or local with your trainer? i went up to prentice my first week and worked with a local guy,he was flatbed, but he was great for me as a first time driver. second trainer i finally went otr, then i had a third trainer that taught me alot, but had no radio/fridge/microwave,nothing. long, long days lol.
good luck, let us know how it goes -
Not really sure if its OTR or local all they told me was that it is a 7/7 flatbeder so that is making me think OTR. But I guess I will see when I get over there

If he is 7/7 that means you will likely have a few trainers. Just keep in mind they are all different. You may get used to one and think you got everything down only to get with your next trainer and have him do things differently. Just accept the advice they give you, and once you are in your own truck you will find that you will use a bit of everything they have thought you.

That is right we all do things different, we're not supposed to, but... Your 7/7 trainer will be OTR, I wouldn't plan on being with him long, they like to keep flatbed students with flatbed trainers. Anyway listen to what they tell you, don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand something, and be ready to learn. Driving a truck is not rocket science, but it is alot to learn for most people. Good luck and be safe.
