I worked grocery for 3 years running extra board. Not sure if food service pays the same but should be close. I would usually gross at least 1000 a week, most times more. One thing that sucks about extra board is your on call 24/7 literally 24/7. With food service you run single with daycabs, do your 14 grab a motel for 10 an than usually finish up your route an head home. Probably run 3 times a week, but really just depends on if your DC has the work or not. I know at my old DC there so short handed now there flying guys in from other DC's for 2 weeks at a time, putting them up in a hotel an paying for a rental car. Also there offering a 2000 dollar sign on bonus for new hires. But you couldn't pay me all the money in the world to go back!! On the bright side, they have an outstanding benefits package, but you'll earn every bit of it!!

I worked for Mclane Foodservice Kc 5 years ago when i started i was telling everyone it was the best place ive ever worked. The last two years Kc has gone to Hell. They are tossing out seinor drivers for bull crap reasons and if you get hurt watch out! I made a report for numb hands and was fired the day before christmas. Turns out I have Major carple tunnel and a damaged nerve in my elbow. And because the fired be 7 days before the end of the year they screwed me out of my 401k match This company sucks and will cast you aside in a heartbeat. Dont waste your time. Lonnie Ha Ha you got what you deserved hope it was agonizing and painful LOL LOL .

Long hours, back breaking work and a Chinese formula pay plan.

The formula pay plan cheats drivers and does not pay them a decent hourly wage. You are promised fantastic earnings, but they don't tell you it means working 6 days a week with little or no sleep.

(I'm a former driver, Safety Director for Fortune 500 Company and DOT consultant.) Running for McLane's you can't run legal!

I've read some other threads about how this was once a Christian company and now they have become bottom line driven. It's true. They no longer care about their drivers, treat them like dirt and are only interested in the profit. My husband worked for them and retired after 25 years. The McLane company of TODAY is not the company he began working for.

You can read all the self serving propaganda Warren Buffet spits out, but truth be known, since he bought this company they have become one of the worst companies to work for.

I'd like to see some current drivers be honest about the working conditions. How many hours are they actually on-duty? (Forget what the logs show - be honest - they fix them all the time) How much quality sleep are they getting? How many injuries are taking place at their DC? How many times are you held up because the load is not ready? Are you compensated for sitting waiting at the DC for the load? How often are you delayed at a Walmart or a back haul and not compensated? How often is the load wrong and you wind up shuffling freight in the trailer from stop to stop? (Improper loading increases the drivers risk of injury) How many accidents are fatigue related? What kind of turn over are they seeing at their DC? Used to be - there was little turn over, because it WAS a great place to work. Now - they can't keep drivers.
