Ahh... Another repower in Ogallala, NE. Dropped my NICE 560- series, and picked up a SKIRTED 539! Looks like I will be driving the "lady" around unless I can get a drop on it.

Good luck to the newbies, and I hope everything goes well! The only stupid question is the one you don't ask...

Hey Smurfette, just make sure you aren't hauling potato chips! If you ever are hauling chips or something and your directions are really strange that is because you can't go over the mountains with potato chips and other similar things because they will blow up due to the altitude. Have you ever noticed if you have empty bottles of water lying around in the truck and you go over the mountains they will pop in and out? While on this subject if you have beauty supplies or cough syrup, pepto, etc... basically stuff in cheap plastic bottles, make sure to put them in a ziploc baggy. When they blow up they will spill in the bag instead of all over your stuff. I had a big bottle or Pepto blow up in my clothes bin and I pink crap all over the place! Kind of sucks when you don't have a major wardrobe with you.

    Drive safe everyone!

    Smurfette Thanks this.

Quite a bit of what you are saying here I believe.
Yup, they charge for load locks, pad locks, and bond they hold to make sure you return your truck in good order.

I also agree that they have a hard time getting you home on time. This happens.

The issues I have are with descriptions of equipment and your work history.
If you had 20 years experience as a road driver or even 10 years. You would not complain that much about the truck. It was a newer truck than what you would be use to with that experience.
You would have also known to do a full inspection of the truck and make sure everything was fixed before you headed out.
You would have communicated better than you did. Yes. I know you did not, just based on your post.

Also no driver with 20 years experience would go to a company that only offered .31 cpm. That would be a 15+ cpm reduction in what you should be getting.
So either you are not as experienced as you are saying or you are lacking in other area's. But with the info here I have to say BS.

By the way. I have no no reason to be standing up for Central. They were ok to me when I was with them, but I other than that I am not involved with them.

mikley28, Wolffy and chompi Thank this.

Hey Wolffy, I'm leaving Portland around 12:40 this afternoon for SLC, David and I will see you down there. My recruiter said I would be the earliest one getting there. I wonder why they didn't put you on the same bus...?:biggrin_2556: :biggrin_25519: Have a safe trip and I'll see you there.

So, I stopped in at the TA down the road and looked at the Rand McNally Motor Carriers Atlas (Deluxe edition)...very nice. Flipped it over to see what it was going to cost...$79.99!! :biggrin_25521: After a muffled groan and a few expletives I took the plunge and walked to the register. When the gal said "That'll be $29.99 I smiled and asked her to check again. She smiled back and told me "that is the right price". WoooHooooo! :yes2557: :blob4: It's packed and I'm stoked to get it for that price. It is amazing...thank you to whomever it was that suggested getting it! :biggrin_25514: :yes2557:
