Have a 98 379 Pete, with the 3406e, fan won't kick out. Just bought this truck, it went through a diesel mechanic tech school where they went through everything external, good possibility it is something that wasn't tightened up or set right. Where should I start?

Do you mean kick on? Have you unplugged the soleniod to see if it would kick on?

I do not understand, fan wont working, yeah?
Does fan work when air is low? -
It won't turn on with the switch or it won't turn on automatically? My 1LW 3406E in a 379 won't turn on until coolant reaches 217 degrees.

Could be several reason why it won't shut off. Your best bet is to go through the switch status's in Cat ET if you have access. It could be something with an a/c switch or just the hub seized up or a bad solenoid... etc. -
I had the same problem. I started at the switch. Take the switch out and move the wires to another one and see if that works. If not then the sensor may be bad or going out. The sensor is located under the alternator. The sensor is a pain to get to. I bypassed it and put in the head my own sensor. I hope that this helps you..

Thanks, I'm going to try the switch. And yes, I do mean it won't kick out, runs all the time. How did you bypass the sensor? That might get me by until I can get one, I live in a small town will probably have to order it, and I need to put this truck to work. Thanks

runs all the time... Are you sure you have no solenoid/air issues?
-
First off since it was at a tech school and they were able to play inside the ECM...........check customer parameter A/C Switch Fan On-Time(0 = Off)...........set it to 0
The early Pete's need this parameter set to 0 or the fan will never shut off. -
yeah, to be sure I use Cat ET software
