Hi Sodapop, I hope I didn't sound negative, I sure didn't mean to, :biggrin_25513: Just wondering.
Your cooler, I would do a search here, lots of info on coolers, also check the truck paper, always several adds for them in there. If the hole is real small, run it for a while, make a little money!! If you can see the hole clean it and JB weld it, don't push the stuff through though, might buy you a little time. ( boy some one will crucify me for saying that!). good luck

Hey guys I have a 2009 Volvo d13 I am stuck on the road side as i write this.
I was going up a long hill and I started getting a whining kind of noise. When I take my foot off the gas it goes away, soon I touch the gas it comes back. Happens when I go over 35m/hr. Coolant and oil temp guages looked fine although I have a coolant leak from oil cooler(apparently) which I hadn't gotten to fixing yet. Coolant level is good.
Any ideas what is causing the sound? Is it the turbo? Help pls

Is there oil in the coolant? Bad oil cooler is a serious thing. That's not something you fix later. You fix that before continuing on in life.

Actually I discovered that the coolant leak is coming from a small coolant line that runs from somewhere under the egr cooler by the oil filter and right infront of the starter. When it leaks it sprays the starter and everything in the vicinity. My guess is this coolant line goes into the oil cooler. My hope is that it is an easy enough fix. I'm at volvo now and they are checking out the turbo for boost leak. Hopefully the turbo is fine.
    Fingers and toes crossed!

The egr cooler may be kaput. Please let us know how it turns out.

My fear is that a the egr is kaput (to use your word). I will take it to the mechanic tomorrow and see what he says.
