I live in the Mon Valley and there is a driver that lives a few miles from me. I don't know the person and don't go down that particular road very often, but I have seen a Heyl truck parked outside a house several times in the past few years, most recently last week.

You may want to give them a call just for the heck of it.

Something I forgor to say in my last post. They don't tell you what way to go, just as long as you don't go severly out of route, they will never say anything. I was leaving Galveston going to North Platte, Ne. Supposed to head up I 45, but just double checked with my DM, and was able to go up 290 out of Houston to Waco to the house. I know I didn't get paid for those 30 miles out of route, but got to take care of some home stuff.
I believe the big difference between this company, and others I have worked for, and others I have considered is that most drivers are happy here, like the DM's, and know that when they are scheduled to be home, they will be home.

Why is the company moving to electronic logs if it is going to possibly cause problems with planners and drivers?

Just like other companies, they are just trying to stay ahead of when the FMCSA, or government makes them mandatory. For the most part, we all ran legal, there was just one of those loads that we had to push a little to make it there on time, so planners are just trying to look at how they schedule loads. There has been those occasional loads that I pushed it past my 11/14/70 to make it there on time so they didn't have to reschedule, but made it look legal and they looked the other way. We are not going to have one that is going to shut you down, just tells you where you are on the hours to the exact minute. It is all going to be an adjustment for everyone.
I don't have one in my truck, they have only put them in a few guinea pig trucks to test them out. I would hate to log that it took me 3 hours yesterday to go 80 mies from Elm Creek, Ne to North Platte, crazy accidents.
--Why does the government need to be in everything??

Yes that was me. I was waiting to make my delivery in Gainesville. When I finished in Gainesville I went home. I had to wait two days for a load because freight has been slow. I really can't complain because once I did get a load there was plenty of miles on it. They loaded me with juice out of Lake Wales going to Portland, OR.

The drive through Nebraska yesterday was anything but fun. The falling snow made the road conditions deteriorate quickly. I believe I rolled past at least 5 tucks in the ditch. There was one crash that looked like there were four trucks involved. One of the trailers was completely blocking the east bound lanes bringing traffic to a complete stop.

Today the roads were much better in Wyoming and Utah. I am here at the Flying J in Jerome, ID. I will only have about 540 miles to do tomorrow to make the TA in Troutdale before delivering Wednesday morning.
