what year volvo with detroit engine?
-
im not sure of the year model, it had 800k miles on it so must be at least a few if not more years old, it was an older styling body shape , not the same style headlight assembly as the newer looking models. I only drove it for two weeks so didnt realy find out too much about the finer details.

o ok. in that case It might have had detroit. cause kw and volvo have not had detroit in them for few years now. KW told me that detroits are not good enough for them. lol.

lol - problem is... he's right. If I were to buy a truck based solely on looks, the 387 would win by so wide a margin it's frightening. -
LOL that's exactly what I want to do on Cabbage or... come to think of it the middle of Wyoming!
SERIOUSLY, that would be SO fun
and yes, insane -
I'm a company driver in a 435hp cat acert powered 387 (2004). I could get used to it. I'm 6'6". No problems reaching the controls, though occasionally I don't quite get it into 9th (10sp).. it's a LITTLE reach.
The bunk is more comfortable than my expensive bed at home.
More storage than I need (not more than I USE, just more than I need)
Good ride. (Except in Chicagoland or I-76 southbound in CO. Those places I doubt anything short of a limo will help)
I seem to get handed "gotta be there yesterday" loads, so I end up running 75 more than I care to.. but mileage is still averaging better than 6 over the past 4 months
Handles VERY well on snow and ice
I'm not allowed to work on the engine... had one issue where the fuel line broke. Took a PILOT shop about 3 hours to replace the entire line from the crossover forward. Looking at it from an engineering point of view, I'd have added 3 inches to the overall length of the line and moved it away from a couple rub-points. Mesh guard or not, a rub will wear through.
Doesn't use oil, either. Just finished a 5000 mile run, and am down less than a half gallon.
Any other issues are the result of the age of the truck. Well, and my desire for at least 500hpLast edited: Jan 9, 2011

If you have to ask all of these questions I'm not sure you are ready to buy a truck... you should have formed some opinions from the many different trucks you have driven...
