Great job, we are all proud parents! Take your time out there, relax, breathe, no white knuckling, pull-over if you are unsure of routing, weather etc... Always best to figure it out while you are not moving down the road. Never drive tired. It is going to take a while to get used to a funky sleep schedule and for your eyes to adjust to driving at night. I sometimes wear a light tinted pair of sunglasses at night. It really cuts down on glare. Another thing that will help is to replace your reading light above your head in the drivers seat with a blue or red bulb. This way you can run down the road with some light and it won't blind you. Makes for finding your gears and helping you because you are not familiar with the dash controls. Make sure you get yourself some erasable markers so that you can write directions, shift pattern, fuel stops, phone #'s etc... right on the window in front of you. You can write on the side window just don't roll the window down! Make sure you get yourself that truck stop guide. Drive safe man!

 

Yeah, just figured I would throw it in there! That's very important to check the routing with the Qualcomm. Although the Qualcomm can be wrong too. Especially if it is a new account. Some shipper/receivers will give the directions by the way they drive to work in the morning. Not always kosher in a big rig. I've had that happen many times. One thing that is a super tool is google earth. Google earth will give a real photo of where you are going. You can tell if you are delivering in the hood, country, if there's parking nearby, how tight the docks are going to be, etc... We used to use it in case we were going to be there for awhile to see if we could spend the night there. Central has a lot of accounts out there in Salinas at all the farms. I used to google earth to find places to park at the beach while we waited for our load. Found some really killer little places and we did a few camp outs and some surfing a few times. Dog loved it but was freaked out by the seals!
