What kind of equipment do they have? Do they hire out of Michigan? Can you really get over 12000 miles in a month with them?

This is puzzling. Was Pride's standpoint that you should've said nothing to the consignee, & not shown the repair invoice to anyone?
Did Pride want you to take a "pot luck shot" to see if the cust would accept it...
.... and if the load was refused, were you to act like you had no idea how the ice cream melted?
Also; when you 1st called to notify Pride of the refer malfunction, did anyone instruct you as to how to handle the customer & claim adjuster?
Please fill me in when you get a chance. Thanx

Can't speak for Pride, but the company I worked for did exactly that. Did a swap for a load of meat and was getting temp msg's everywhere. Took me about 20 minutes and talking with rd asst to figure it out. Load was supposed to be set at 27 and couldn't get it up to even 26. Finally figured out the menu was set for celsius instead of faranheit. Company told me both on the phone and on the QC (found that one hard to believe), to say NOTHING to the rcvr.

Ice cream was to be at -10F, which would have kept it rock solid. The ice cream was soft. The rcvr checked tha tatle tale box was checked and showed that the temp had been out of range.

I was given no instructions about talking to anyone. In fact when the adjuster showed up I called dispatch and told them that he was there and was given no instructions either.

Well, after talking to a few drivers, I can't afford to go to Pride. It is great that they are a family company, treats everyone GREAT, and has all the miles you can handle. BUT, They ONLY pay 35 cents per mile with no other bonuses factored in besides stop pay and layover pay. Making 37 cents now, with fuel bonus and saftey bonuses it goes up to 40 cents per mile. They used to be at 37 cents per mile with great bonuses, but after 2 years ago when the fuel went up they cut out all bonuses and dropped their pay. That sounds like a company just hanging on. As "Family" as they might be, in the end to me it is all about the $$$$. Guess I am going with the bigger company that pays more, oh well.

For everyone Considering Pride Transportation SLC.

I worked for pride exactly 1 year. Yes they are owned by one of the England son's "Jeff" who by himself is a really good guy. Over the past few years "Jay" jeff's son has taken over most of the responsibilities of the company. Pride transport's pay has gone down to keep the company afloat there was a company wide pay cut. .35/mile is now top pay for the company, a few years ago I think it topped at .45/mile. They do pay on a practical mile scale. When I worked for them I was doing about 14000/per month solo. Though they state they are mostly west of the miss river they do deliver to costco in NJ, have many loads going to GA, IL,WI,TX. One of there big accounts in salt lake is Kroger. As far as there trucks go, the fleet is now mostly Freightliner Cascadia's, peterbilt 387's and international prostar's all limited to 65mph. Some of the dispatchers there are okay some are jerks. The best dispatcher to have there is josh. He always went above and beyond for me while driving there and I always helped him out when he was in a bind. I will tell you if you decide to go to pride to watch out for Ken, who does most of there hiring and Ean their saftey manager who is also married to Jeff's daughter. Though I left pride when I felt they were going down hill with the son in charge of the operation I thought they were a overall good company to work for I never really sat, I was always paid on time and accurately and got home when I requested. It is mandatory to run at least 11k per month with them. so if you like to play around this is not a company for you. To all that choose to go to pride good luck and be ready to run. I hurt my back in July 2009 and after coming off disability they fired me, so my recommendation is not to get hurt on the job or they will let you go when you return.
