300 watt oil heater here, truck biz
Had a 500 watt in last truck but had a larger oil pan (KTA). Didnt dare use a 500 in the 3406E oil pan. Would love to hear what the guru's think on these wattages. Would the larger oil heater (500) be to much in the Cat pan?....

Most trucks come with about a 500w immersion heater maybe a 750w and a good oil pan heater is 300w. People use to put in big oil pan heaters 750W, I can remember trying to get them out of the pan, and there was so much carbon on it, it would not come out. Those were the aluminum tube ones. The copper pipe type folded over I always recommended them, I believe you could get them in 500w.

The oil heater is 300W. It threads into one of the 1"NPT pan holes.
I see Kim Hotstart and Zerostart list a 2000W immersion heater for you Canucks that have cold weather... -
I knew I had it somewhere, here is the websight http://shop.wolverineheater.com/Model-IPH-500-Watt-IPH-500.htm
& here is the e-mail I got after inquiring about it.
Thanks for the inquiry. Yes, we designed and patented a cartridge heater that threads into the
pan. P/N# IPH-500 Detroit. 500 watts, heats the oil to 150+ F. Works well in sub zero temps.
$169.00 includes the detachable weatherproof cord. 2 year warranty.
Happy New Year

Any thoughts on the cartridge type vs the pad that is glued onto the pan?
Here in south Lousy-ana, we got down to a bone chilling 39* f. this am.... brrrr
Sorry, I couldn't resist. I have been thinking about a heater for my C-15, simply because I don't like to hear that slow rpm idle while the cold oil is warming; Those cold oil crank-ups can't be good. -

What kind of plug does the oil heater have? And where do I purchase a cord for it?
