Top Gear Recommendation

I totally agree either pass me or back off either way just get off my ###. Really peeves me off that a TV show is telling people this is okay

 

That is not a good thing to reinforce on national TV what 4 wheelers do too much of anyway. Also, I can see fuel savings, but a race? You are in CA the majority of the trip. Most trucks, if they dare, aren't doing more than 70 MPH. Not incredibly fast.

 

the tv show mythbusters did a story on that. one would have to be nearly touching the ICC bumper to gain any drafting benefits...so it doesn't really work. as for that show "top gear" watch it once, never went back to it, as i do not believe i am missing anything....

 

They said being 14' behind the truck (which is still too close) is better on the MPG's than 2'.

 

I really like the BBC version of "Top gear" but I find the American version unwatchable.

 

i missed that episode of Mythbusters. i wouldn't mind seeing that one.

 

its a joke, and they must already be out of ideas because the bbc boys have already done a plane race.

but i cant believe they actually said that. i mean yeah that will up your mpg, you can probably save a whole .05 cents a gallon! but that wont do you much good when your under a trailer with your head knocked off.

 

One time when I was an O/O a friend of mine waited at the get'n on ramp at the 114 on I 20 for this dude named "Majic" out of Atlanta. We were all 3 headed for Wilmington, Nc. We all had a bunch of gears and big Cats. My partner said, "when Majic gets here you'd better be ready to run." I was already known for driving fast and my friend was too. I was wondering how fast this Majic liked to run. I was also thinking, my fuel milage is going to suck.
Anyhow, along came Majic and we road all the way to Wilmington wide open. Over 90+ sometimes over 100 mph they didn't check up in the slow zones until we got to hwy 74. I had my Petes nose just a within several feet of the trailer in front of me the entire time. I got almost 9 mpg but I demonstrated an example of what not to do. That was the 1st and only time I got that kind of fuel milage in a big rig. Wind resistance plays a huge part in fuel milage. When I ride my motorcycle behind a big truck I get hit with a lot of wind whipping from every direction. I'm not rocket scientist but the only thing I can think is that you have to be very close.
