took me just over 4 hours with my snow throwers mind you to clean up 13" of this crap. after i had cleaned up an area and moved on, more snow was accumulating. oh well.....
on the 5 o'clock news, the reporter had said that some car drivers were "speeding along the highway".......ok......that'll be the next news story at 11......
it is supposed to ice up tonight......wonderful.
glad my employer didn't have classes today.....but i would have probably still not been able to make it in...just way too much area for me to clean up...

the highway was worse then the blizzard right around christmas time. i went out that day, didnt bother me at all. i had fun in it. but i stop having fun and enjoying the weather when i dont even know where my truck is on the highway, worrying about where the bump strip ends because that was the only thing that let me know i was getting close to the edge, and my truck would start swerving around for no reason just because of the amount of snow. my boss told me last snow storm when i got in "You should of just turned around its not worth it" and i said "well if i knew that i might of but it wasnt that bad, i made it. weather doesnt stop me usually". so today i did that today. i have no problem working in snow conditions, but when i stop having total control of a truck, game over. in the 3 years or so that i have been driving trucks i have never shut down due to weather.HFC Thanks this.

knowing when to jump ship is a smart thing to learn. instead of having tomorrow off i had today off since i turned around, and i'll go out tomorrow so everything will be fine. the customers understand, and everyone in the office does too, and so does my boss. i seriously never thought i'd shut down due to weather. we had a hurricane that was suppose to come threw a few months back and told everyone to start at 7am, i woke up at my normal time, saw the weather wasnt bad and said screw it and went into work. we have keys to get in so no one has to wait for anyone in particular to show up. we (the drivers) are all there hours before the office people.

i know i will again at some point. i honestly can say this, i enjoy driving in the snow. i like the scenery, its a challenge and its something new. i was getting very nervous on the highway today, getting too squirrel i figured the main roads off the highway are going to be just as bad or worse, if i ever made it to my exit with out going off the highway and getting stuck. not to mention the super duper truckers like poster above me said. i had 53' tractor trailers passing me. i was going about 35/40. i really was beside myself when these 3 douche bags passed me.HFC Thanks this.

i was ridin around with my buddy when i got home, we shoveled a couple drive ways. i saw a little honda 4 door with the passanger doors touching the driver side door. it was like bent in half, the roof popped up and was bent. i should of taken a picture it was really messed up. if i can find it on the internet i'll post it.HFC Thanks this.

got 29" at my house. right off 84 just inside the ct line w/ ny. trailer is still buried. spent most of the day digging out around the house. Have to dig out the rest of the truck in the am... and see about the trailer. gotta drop n swap at some point tomorrow. ugh.
days at home make me no money. and shoveling for free makes it suck even more.HFC Thanks this. -
yeah that Danbury (and surrounding area) got hit hard for sure.....

so i went out today, to do the route i was gonna do yesterday. turns out a bunch of stores were closed down anyway so it worked out for them since they wouldnt of gotten milk until tomorrow.

around here, probably same area as you cover, many malls were open, but the individual stores were not......the parking lots were still mucked up...
and i can assure you, bread and milk shelves are empty as well...
