You can't get around the radius restriction. They have an audit department and do check calls to the broker that they sent the insurance forms to. They also check your IFTA filing.
You will also find that most brokers know that progressive has a radius restriction and either will not deal with you or will require progressive contact them directly for conformation that you are covered for this trip.
I do would be interested in how you do it JustMike?

There's an ad at the top of the forum for a website called rigquote. They offer an instant online quote, and you have the option of picking a new venture and driver with 0-2 years of experience. You can also choose to limit yourself to 300 or 500 miles, or no limit at all. It takes about two minutes to get a quote.
I've never actually talked to these people or gotten insurance from them, so I can't say for sure that it's legit. But the website does make it appear that they would insure drivers without experience. -
Loose Leaf Thanks this.

Thanks MeatHead !
Well the 50 mile Radius came as a suprise to me because no one told me about it when I bought my policy >> But it caught my Eye Big Time when the rather strange looking Insurance Papers came to me IE:"Progressive "
Got on the Phone with them and found you pay for upgrades >>
Example $41 more gets you 150 mile Radius >> now that a PAY not a get around that's for sure.
now the 10 % rule ( your allowed to go beyond the 50 mile mark 10 % of the time ) = some 32 times per year I believe >> That's 2.6 times per month >> so that's a consideration for some
********************************************************
I did not see in the Policy where is states that " Your not insured " beyond 50 miles and that means something to a lawyer I believe.
********************************************************
In fact I was told I am Insured anywhere in the USA !
********************************************************
I believe there is a way around the Radius but have not found it yet >>
Just my Guess ?? humm -
Progressive WILL cover you outside the radius. What happens is if the see a claim beyond your approved radius they will dig. If they find you have a dedicated run (for example) and didnt tell them - they simply let you run your policy out and NON-RENEW you. Nice eh?
I think Progressive will work with you, to a point. They are testing 'unlimited' radius right now in some states of customers (Georgia is one of them) and we might see this option in 2011. I like Progressive, since I suspend Collision unless I am running and that saves a ton. They have no issue with adding Collision for even a week at a time.
Add, suspend...Add, suspend..Works nice and saves $$.
RigQuote? - Sorry guys....Not a winner even though they sponser this board.
Find another source for insurance....I have tried to work with them 3 times and gave up. -
SO JD Hanadarko
Just how do you do that ???
" And there are easy ways to get around that stupid radius restriction."
I would be interested to know ?
Thanks in advance if you know ?

Canal is also an A rated insurer while the Florida one is a C rated insurer. Some larger brokers know this and won't like it. But you gotta go with what you can get.
No matter which way you go any insurer will prefer that there is at least one experienced driver as part of the company and as a driver of the truck. -
i got out of the military, got my CDL (didn't go to school, just took the test an used someone's truck and trailer) and i got insurance with Mega Trux.. it's high, but i dont have a radius, or any restrictions.

Cool i been digging for ins. as a new driver for a O/O as a team sox a lot sounds like i may have some luck? Thanx a lot all!

Your best bet is to just plain call the insurance companies and get a quote instead of asking on here. There are a ton of variables that will effect your cost and if they will even take you on.
