I've only had problems twice, once in RA N. of Armadillo on 287, had just settled down when there was a knock on the door. Sheriff's deputy telling me to move on, there had been two robberies and some cargo theft at that same RA. I moved on quickly.

The other was at the RA on SB I-45 N. of Huntsville, Tx. Lizard in a bad way with her pimp knocked on the door. Didn't let her in, but did call the cops.

lock up,park in well maintained places, use common sense where to stop for the nite if the place looks shady prob best not to. Keep somehting in truck to defend urself with my old an always kept a pistol, tire iron, and what he likes to call "his knife" in truck with him. Hes old school so hes seen alot over the years and likes to be prepared for anything.

Padlock on the trailer, all doors locked while I'm sleeping, and when I'm not with the truck, seatbelts through door handle in certain rest areas (Out on Long Island, NY, etc), curtains closed, whether I'm on the truck or not. Lot lizzards are not allowed on my truck, company policy. I'll talk to them if they approach me, but never closer than 5 ft. I just don't need them.
I'm considering buying an air valve lock, that seems to be a good idea when I'm not with the truck. (This goes over the air valve buttons, so they can't be pushed in to release the brakes.)
backup the trailer against a wall, or some other imovable object, if possible, so nobody can open the trailer. (That's not always possible though.)
It's a messy world out there unfortunatly.
Follow other good suggestions in this thread.

What ever happened to drivers looking out for other drivers? Messing around with someone else's load makes me sick. Anyone who does that (unless they are playing a HARMLESS practical joke on a FRIEND) needs their guts stomped out.

I like the idea of a dummy wallet, gonna do just that. Though if some jagaloon is dumb enough to mess around with a guy looking like me I hope they were smart enough to bring more than a pigsticker.

Was thinking, wonder what the legality of carrying a dummy wallet with dummy cash inside would be? I'm amused at the thought of the crackhead getting gutted by his dealer after trying to make a buy with fake cash.

If it don't look right, report it. Nothing wrong with that. Problem is when people get the mentality of "Naw, I don't want to get involved"...or "Someone else must have seen it, I'm sure they called 911." More often than not, most will actually be looking at a crime in progress and not even realize it.

The dummy wallet is a viable option. However, the dummy cash is not. Like was stated earlier, use smaller bills, photocopy or record the serial numbers. Otherwise, you could be facing a charge of possessing counterfeit currency (Unless it was monopoly money not even close to resembling real currency-and in that case, what's the point?)

But what you stated up front couldn't be more spot on. Use the Buddy System and look out for each other. One day it could be someone elses stuff, some other time, on another day, it could be your own.
