    Hello all,
I have another question for you O/O's out there...

You might know from other threads that I am researching info based on a Team operation. What I have found is a few good company's to lease to but they have age limits. I have been set on getting a 2002 or earlier Detroit since that year has not emissions on them. A pete 379 being my first choice.

What I want to know is; what year truck had the least emissions??? Most company's want 10 year max, some 5 years or less.

    Thanks again,,

There were quite a few '03 trucks made with pre-October '02 emissions engines that had already been made and stockpiled prior to October. After October '02, Detroit and Cummins went to EGR, and Cat (eventually) went with the Acert compound turbo setup. The next round started in '07, and that's when everyone went to DPF.

    SheepDog Thanks this.

    Thanks josh.c
You answered my question and that is what I thought but wanted to be sure.

MedicineMan, I don't see how your staement makes sense but you are entitled to your opinion. For the record, I have dealt with Det engines for the past 2.7 yrs and have had minamal problems with them, even concidering they are company trucks.

They started emission stuff in 1970, and Ronald Reagan fast tracked it. the early engines could do it with camshaft profiling, injection pressures, and timing. I do not know if you can even get the complete profile anymore but there is one number they can not lie about that it the EPA number about how much fuel in MM3 it takes to make the max HP. Cat put it on the oil cooler, Cummins and Detroit on the valve cover tag.
You may want to look at the newer engines especially the DD15s. look at that number, warranty overall costs.
    Just a thought!

Geez... I was at a Pete store last week and they were doing a major on a Freightliner with a Detroit!

Evidently they didn't get the memo...

It's a gray area.....Grand Junction Pete will work on a Pete with a green engine and so will Blackhawk Peterbilt....

They can warranty the work but not the parts....At least that's what they told me when I owned Bull......

You can get just about anyone to work on your rig....MHC Kenworth serviced my rig in El Paso because Rush Peterbilt in El Paso overbooked and couldn't do it.....As long as your money is green....You shouldn't have a problem with repair or service......
