I have a friend who's air filter/dryer is puking black oil when the charging cycle is complete. Complete unit was replaced one year ago, Question, is the air compressor starting to go belly up?

This friend said, it dumped about a cup of black oil and was dripping black oil while engine running.

yes, air compressor is pooched.

First off, is the compressor air intake on a boosted air intake, second I would check the air intake of the main engine for dust, If that is OK with the engine hot better to do it after it has been run all day, remove the air discharge line. With the engine at about 1500 RPM and the compressor pumping air put a piece of cardboard in front of the discharge fitting, better if done with a clip board, do it for 1 minute if it blows out a larger pattern than 2 inches the compressor is junk
