I would put something down into the tank, stick, broom handle ect. (clean of course) to gauge how much fuel is left. More than a couple inches and i'm sure you can make it somewhere for fuel.

I'm in Las Vegas, there is a lot of fuel being stolen from parked trucks, Their using electric fuel transfer pumps. I'm going to put a couple flush surface key locks on my fuel access doors, along with a alarm switch to my alarm system. My alarm system has two 100db sirens connected, have it connected to my doors and hood. If you don't lock it up you loose it in this town.

If you are in Vegas...and your low fuel light is on...you should have plenty to get to one of the truck stops at either end of town. T/A on the south end and Pilot/FlyJ and Petro on the North end....be careful about climbing hills, many trucks have the pump tube in the front of the tanks so the back flow could pose a problem.

You still have enough to make it to any casino and win your fuel back...

Most larger areas have a fuel delivery service if you are to low Call a truck dealer and they should be able to get you a delivery. Them boys in the cheap tuxedo pants really take a dim view of of blocking there roads. If you have a tape measure stick it in the tank and measure it 7 inches is OK

What would be nice is a float system in the tanks. Fuel level drops below a preset, sets off buzzer/siren. Can't imagine that'd be too difficult/expensive to implement. Every tank already has one.

With climbing fuel prices, its only going to get worse. I was in shock when I watched the surveillance video at work one day, to see a truck pull up and use a sawzall to remove the exhaust system from another truck parked in our parking lot. (4 wheelers) People are getting desperate.

Sounds like a really good way to work off some stress...beating some thieving scum half to death for stealing.

Giving them a whipping, great. My question is I wonder if DOT would require you to flag it on your log and have to take a 15 minute hit?:biggrin_25523:

If you catch a thief and hurt him he would get off and you would go to jail.
When aluminum was really high they were stealing the aluminum from the travel trailers in storage lots.
The next thing they will steal the whole thing tank and fuel?
    Play safe!
