I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I don't think he's driving anymore. I just can't see ORG not posting at least a note or two "once in a while" if he was.
Driving or not, I just wish he'd give me a call and say hi. I'm "this" close to calling Swift and asking what's up?
I got close enough to him that I can't help but wonder everyday where he is, how he and his family are and what's going on.
So PLEASE buddy! If you are reading these, call me and let me know you're OK. If your driving, great. If you're not, great! It doesn't matter to me and I'm sure most everyone here. We just want to know you're happy and healthy bro!!!!
I'm going with Swift!!!

I wish nothing but the best for him, but it sure would be nice to know one way or another. If you do chat with him, give him our best regards, and tell him he should still post. There are plenty of ex-drivers on this forum who contribute their experience to those who are just starting out.
My gut feeling says he's still driving. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.chralb, sammycat, rayodeluz and 1 other person Thank this. -
ORG's first post in his Help A Trucker Wannabe Out thread was on June 2 2010. It was clear from his first few posts that at the time he pretty much knew nothing about the industry. He said he was slated to start trucking school on Jun 21. This is less than three weeks to really investigate the career and think about the ramifications of making such a major life change. Throw in the fact that he was still working in a job that took all his time, and that leaves even less time to do research and consider the facts.
I can tell you that I joined TTR about the same time as ORG, wasn't working so I could spend hours a day looking into this career, and it still took me months before I came to a decision about it (I've chosen not to go forward, at least at this time given my situation). There's just way too much information to go through and consider to do it all in a matter of a few weeks, IMHO.
All that said, I still haven't quite thrown in the towel on ORG's trucking career. I have my doubts, but he still may stick with it. From what he said it sounds like it's taking a toll on his family. Still, there are some things you just have to experience in life, and are compelled to do. Sometimes they don't work out, and sometime they do. Either way, at the very least you can say you tried and will never have to wonder "what if I had tried that many years ago...." No matter what happens with ORG, I also wish him the best of luck. I have no doubt that if for whatever reason the trucking career doesn't work out, he'll find something that will.sammycat, prgmr42, chralb and 1 other person Thank this. -

Same as the guys said above- all the best to you no matter what! -
In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team

I love it when a plan comes together.

Very much like OTR, I too jumped into this thing, but I did not have an office job to leave since I was unemployed. I left something much more important: my two young kids. It has only been 3 weeks (1 week orientation and 2 weeks training), and I miss them a lot more than I imagined I would. Last Friday was my son's 5th birthday and the 29th is my daughter's 10th birthday. They don't seem to be missing me too much, but its hard to tell sometimes. Phase 2 is suppossed to start next week which would mean another 2 weeks gone (5 weeks total). I'm really not sure how this is going to turn out. I will try to suck it up until I can find something local, but who knows...
