When you stop for the night or for hometime, where are the safest places to park if you can't take the truck home and can't get to the terminal?

I found a local trucking company that rents out space in their lot. I struck a deal with them because I wasnt going to park there all the time so instead of the $100 a month they usually charge they only charge me $15 for the nights I am there (once or twice a month). It is fenced in and that includes plug in for the block heater, you bring your own cord. Anywhere you park you should always get permission BEFORE you park there.

For hometime I park my truck at a Walmart! Its safe they allow trucks to park in the front of the store in so its in front of the cameras if anything where to happen while were gone!!!

Very very true. My friend left her truck at the Loves in Gary, In and she went home to detriot just she said she didnt feel good and wanted to go home and didnt tell the truck stop employeeswhen she came back 4 days later and they towed her truck!!!PainNdaNeck Thanks this.

I would not leave a truck at anything in Gary IN! You're risking having it stolen just going in to eat or shower!
Gary, In. in the top ten most dangerous towns in America unless they fell out of that rating recently!
I remember parking next to a CR England at the TA exit 6 way back in the back NW corner of the lot and then waking up to the police beating on my door!
Mr. CR England had put his jeans with his wallet that had his life in it on the drivers seat, closed the curtain and gone to bed.
Moron thief climbed up on the running board sees the jeans and puts a rock through the window, reaches in and grabs the jeans and takes off, climbs the fence but another driver sees this and calls 911 and they actually caught the guy and returns the drivers jeans and wallet! The police wanted to know if I saw anything but I was in ZZZ land!
Moral to this story is Gary sucks but never lay your pants or leave anything in grabbing distance of a window or door! This is why many years ago I started to put a coat hook on the wall of the closet for hanging my clothes on when I go to bed. The curtain covers them up but they're right there when I stand up out of the bunk and out of sight from idiot theives!
I'm glad Lady finally got her job back as she was going crazy about it! She makes for a great FB friend! LOLCertifiedSweetie Thanks this. -
"COMMON SENSE" dictates where to park while otr,I have flatbeddin friends who love to park at shippers or receivers for the 10,(if permitted) you will KNOW a bad truck stop when there,(trust me) and when home, well, your home, you should know where and who to ask..

Thanks! We have a Walmart nearby, and I will certainly consider parking there if the manager gives the go-ahead.

I have to respectfuly disagree with part of what you have said. I agree that there are some places that are obviously unsafe, but just because a place looks safe doesn't mean that it is.
Shippers and receivers who have approved your parking in their lot are fine if you happen to be there when it's time to stop, but I doubt that's often the case. There's not an agreeable shipper or receiver or a Walmart available every time you want or need to stop at a safe place. What about the rest of the time? -
And I respectfully say to thee,(dont know why I"m talkin like that)sometimes you can just "overthink". There is NO WAY you can possibly prepare for every circumstance out there.....Hence its called..-OTR

Maybe I should have phrased my question differently. Let me ask it this way: Other than Walmart parking lots (thanks, LadyTrucker2go) and places like Jumbo wrote about, where can a driver park safely, and what kinds of places should he avoid? Also, what are some indicators that a place is safe or risky?
