I'm having the same problem. I'm beginning to wonder if the problem isn't some TA's, Pilots, Petros, etc., are only listed as travel centers in the database, while other locations are only listed as truck stops which prevents the machine from finding them. Truck stops are apparently are a separate category and accessed through the "Pro" heading.

For the searches to work well, ideally the points of interest should search both categories and all travel centers should be listed in the "Pro" truck stop listings for "Near Current Location" lookups.

I think it's wrong not to display items like rest areas as you drive if you don't enter a destination first! The GPS knows where I'm at and what direction I'm travelling. It also knows where those places are, so why can't it show them as I drive along?

    Many addresses are not found
3888 North Dakota 3, Dawson, ND
2700 23rd Avenue, Council Bluffs, IA

and how many times do I have to click the "check" button to route to a location?
3 times bplus accept that some roads are not legal and check local signs....

This morning to get to the industrial park in Bismark the road was only rated 10,000lbs in the gps along with the roads in there too

at least there was not a speed trap there...

    Brian,

Feedback - I believe your latest software release has eliminated the freezing problems in the 7700. I haven't had either a runtime or a point of interest lookup freeze since I installed the update before Christmas. This is a major milestone in the 7700 reaching its potential.

Major Gripe - the 7700 works hard in major cities to tell you to avoid nearly every exit not on your route, but seems to completely abandon this behavior in major interstate rural intersections or new interstates originating on your route.

For example, plot a course from Atlanta south to Savannah. As you approach Macon GA the 7700 correctly identifies the I-75/I-475 interchange and directs you (correctly) to I-75. However, the machine never alerts you to the beginning of I-16 in downtown Macon, even though the route is initially plotted correctly and requires taking this completely new interstate. There is never any alert to change interstate routes! (I've driven this route several times with the 7700.) If you don't know from experience to take the exit, the machine will never tell you to do so.

This same behavior is evident when major interstates intersect in rural areas. Although you must be aware which lane to be in so you don't get sidetracked, as long as you are not changing interstate routes the 7700 never announces the intersection or gives lane assist tips.

Fixing these gaffs would be the next major step in making the 7700 more credible and reliable.

    Thanks.

Makes sense. It might be because the nav unit has no way of knowing where you plan to turn. Every time you change direction it would need to do a whole new search for those items, which might be time consuming. I will run it by our engineers and see what they say.

3888 North Dakota 3, Dawson, ND does not seem to be in the database. It would need to be added in a future map update.

I do see 2700 23rd Avenue, Council Bluffs, IA. When entering the name of the street, just enter "23" and then tap on the icon in the upper-right to show a list of matches. "23rd Ave" will be listed.

If you can provide an address in Bismark, I can check on the 10,000lb weight limit.

Here's a follow up example to my comment.

Today I'm driving west on I-40 in Texas. I want to locate the Flying J Travel Center in Tucumcari, NM at exit 333. I select:
Points of Interest | Along Route | Auto/Truck | Travel Centers | Flying J Travel Plaza.

Several locations along my route appear, but not the Tucumcari location, which I know exists. Then I select:
Points of Interest | Along Route | Promiles... | Truck Stops

and the Tucumcari Flying J Travel Center at exit 333 is present in the long list presented.

Very frustrating! The location is present, but in the wrong database (or is entered in the single database with incorrect attibutes). I think this is a major quality control problem and is the source of many of the frustrated location comments in this forum.

All travel center locations should be presented when querying truck stops, but only (and all) travel center locations should appear when querying for travel centers.
