In all seriousness, you DO NOT need job placement. You're posting here so you obviously are on the internet. Let your fingers do the walking, check with drivers here, make some calls, and you'll be able to find a job. From my experience, the companies that the CDL schools recruit for are the same ones that are on every message board anyway and usually the major starter companies that you can find listed everywhere on the internet.
As for Roadmaster, I went to the Tampa, FL location in 12/06 and their job - as is true for many of the schools, is to get you through with the bare minimum effort on their part to get you graduated and on the road. My classes lasted for 3 weeks and I had a total of about 8 hours behind the wheel in all that time.
In CDL school you learn to pass the tests, not to do the job. That comes when you get with a trainer and then you learn enough to get into a truck solo. Once THAT happens, then you really start to learn the job. Once you're out there by yourself and have to figure stuff out on your own you'll learn the job quick - or fail.
If you have the time to spare, and if you aren't in the position to have the state pay for your school, then I'd suggest one of the cheaper but longer community college programs.
That's my 2 cent's. Hope it helps.

Call your local job services office. It's different for every state and each county gets funding for various programs throughout the year. Once that pot of $$ runs out for the county then they put in for more funds from the state and sometimes more comes in, some times it doesn't. So, you may call today and they say they don't have any available programs but then you can call next week and they do.
I'd suggest picking up the phone yourself and calling. Any answer you get here will at the best be speculation. -
I do not drive for Maverick as they do not hire out of FL. I can only recommend good companies. PM inbound.

Who you running with Kinghunter, if you don't mind me asking. I've been trying to get on with a fuel company here in Tampa since before Thanksgiving. I've been told that I "have the job" but they are dragging their feet. Supposedly, I'll have something definative this week but if not, then I'm going to start looking elsewhere.
Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have. -
I do not mind at all Luzon.
I am going with Swift for a number of reasons:
I can go Solo and not be forced to team
They have the freight to keep me moving
I can bring my truck home
My options for a career do not stop with driving
KHLuzon Thanks this. -

I went to the one in jax,fl, Not too bad Id suggest getting your permit before you go to school.http://www.cristcdl.com/otc/ab/ this is a site that helps you study. If you get your permit before you go, you dont have to waste a day possibly more going to get your permit and if you dont get it the first couple times then youll be behind in class. They also are pretty good at finding you job placement but choose wisely grass hopper and good luck!!!
sydsdriver and The Challenger Thank this. -

I recommend Roadmaster in Columbus Oh. They have a good crew of instructors and they will take the extra time to help if your having problems and willing to learn. I was in and out in 3 weeks and left with a hand full of pre-hires.
