That does sound controlling?? Wow! I say draw them however you like as long as it is done neatly etc.

I learned about logging from the log/safety departments, I have no quarrel with them, they do their job, I actually like most people, even DOT types, as long as they don't take too much pleasure in making my life miserable.
I drove out of Waterloo, IA for a time; one time the auditor/safety director was sure he had me, I had delivered to Waterloo, IL, and he mistook that for Waterloo, IA, and marked it as falsification, I pointed out what happened to him and he couldn't believe he had not seen IL instead of IA. That would have been fun if it had been a real audit instead of the company one. If you remember what you did, it is much easier to stick to your story. -
The first year (out of eight I was with Landstar, for a full 7 or 8 months Log Department was constantly "violating" me for falsification because they claimed "Comdata" records were in Central Time Zone, instead of Eastern Time (my home time zone). I kept calling Comdata to confirm their time zone, and eventually refused to send any log in until the Log Department got their heads out of their......well you know where they were.
The remaining seven years was spent constantly "re-printing" them (I use DDL) because the Log Department "lost" them. -
I know several "log auditors" at companies that was violating drivers wrong for this also. Comdata is located in the odd part of Tennesse where the time zone is different. I seen many drivers get falsed (and yes by me/the computer) and not caught to later. Although I have qualcom to back me up so I always check several drivers to double check and make sure we are set correctly (NOW).
Crap happens to everyone and everyone makes mistakes. I expect it out of the drivers and I give them slack when I can, but if I can't don't yell at me cause you did not log like you was even trying
.
I get along with most drivers. The one's who dont like me are the one's that don't like being busted

I don't know those responsible for this task, so I can't like, or dislike, them.
To date, I've heard nothing from them, good or bad, and, no news is good news.
We use loose-leaf, therefore, I don't submit mistakes, regardless of how many sheets I use to get it perfect.
I think they use "KellarScan", and compare against Comdata fuel purchases and toll receipts. So far, they're leaving Qualcomm data out of their audits, and that gives me a lot of wiggle room. -
I love our log dept. We don't have one, the boss almost never asks us for logs, and he wouldn't know if they were right or not anyway.
I keep my time up correctly to protect my butt, but some of our drivers never turn in a log, or in the case of the local drivers, a time sheet.
I drive for a very strict company. They have a steadfast rule that you must be able to hold the steering wheel with at least one hand after being helped into the cab.
Once a new driver was being shown his newly assigned truck when the boss opened the drivers door and was showing the newbie the inside. The boss asked, "do you know how to double clutch"?
The new driver replied, "you ain't fooling me, one of them pedals is the brake". -
The most annoying thing with my safety dep't is when they come back 3 months later and say "Hey, we're missing a log form you for this or that day", despite that fact that by law you only have to keep the old logbooks for 7 days into the next month.

well im still new to the logs but they have been audited my the compamy and my boss just laughed ther were so many screwups hell I even got in trouble for driving 79mph in Ohio from the audior but my boss told me to keep the good work I run expedited freight so I always bending the rulesand he does not mind

Keep in mind that if you are ever in a wreck that bent rules can and often do come back to haunt the driver and the owner of the truck. In today's lawsuit happy society there are many drivers and companies that wish they would have never bent the rules. Drivers are in jail because of falsified logs and owners are out of business because they allowed it and the lawsuits that followed a wreck put them out of business.
Don't do it. And for darn sure don't brag about it and expect every body to think its cool.
I'm not in the least claiming that I've never busted a log rule. But think long term, is sitting in jail worth a few minutes or a few hours on a falsified log book?
