To all the drivers out there who gave me their advice without trying to slam me and make me sound like I was being materialistic and only wanting to drive a truck for it's looks........Thank You for your advice.
Nowhere in my original post did I mention which trucks look better or are the prettiest to drive.
From original post, "I was hoping to get some feedback from experienced drivers about which trucks are better and more reliable than others". -
uh yeah...really....as a student, what would you care about the trucks themselves being reliable...?? they break down, you call the shop...
they are ALL reliable...if you are going to choose a trucking company, you choose for the reasons i have given not some asinine reason about reliability. that's a bunch of hogwash on your part...
you have to even hope you GET A JOB after graduation....and i'll venture to guess, it WILL NOT BE the company you choose because of the trucks they have.....
expect to be turned down from some of them....and if all that's left is a company with very old Mack's, what will you do...??? what will you do...?? -
chrome adds to the aerodynamics of a big rig, didn't you know this..??
this is what allows one to "slip through" all that buffeting head-on wind...

And I'll answer!
THEY ALL ARE JUNK!
90% of the trucks out on the road are built in Mexico... They start falling apart at time they leave the assembly line.
You can take 2 identicle trucks brand new... Same make, model, year, engine, transmission.... Everything just the same & one of them will be more reliable then the other.
The question your asking is more retoricle then anything else....
I have a 2006 Volvo.... POS it is! But it is much more reliable then the 2001 Peterbilt I had. But not no where as reliable as a friends 1992 Freightliner.
Reliability comes down to maintnance... If the company poorly maintains their equipment, then you will have no reliabilty.
Why don't you post the names of the companies..... We'll tell you about them & their trucks!Rerun8963 Thanks this. -
Thanks for your comments.
Good luck to you and be safe out there. -
May Trucking, Gordon, Werner and Swift.
This is all I have applied to so far..... -
I don't know nothing about May or Gordon.
Werner will most likely bend you over & not use KY Jelly. Their trucks are generally pretty ratty looking & dirty.
Swift in all is a decent company with some decent equipment. But if something goes wrong, you may find yourself waiting a day or two trying to get it fixed.idfive Thanks this. -
