Greatwide/American Trans Freight

yeah, i backed out of it.they told me i would do a "dedicated from tx,to fla,pa,then back to tx every week averaging1.50 TO THE TRUCK. when questioned further was told this wasnt actually a dedicated,just an example.So,I figured that I was lied to before I hired on that no telling what would happen once they had me stuck out there! I think some of these co.s dont want o/o's but are to cheap to buy trucks and hire co drivers.

 

Glad you caught on real quick.Actually,Cheetah was a pretty good company until they were bought by GW.It's went all down-hill from there.Now,we're pretty much on our own,if you can't find your own freight,you'll sit.

 

That 1.50 to the truck would be 2.00 gross.Look on their load board,most of the crap isn't 1.25 gross .

 

i have just terminated my lease with greatwide..they are the biggest crooks they pay me 20 bucks to mov a wal mart trailer but charge wal mart 50.. they make you wait on the phone for a call for a load that pays 100 bucks but takes you 6 hours.. turn that down an they will not call you for 2 days.. my hub was winter haven.. never never ever made over 200 dollars a week for 9 weeks ... they really like those mexican an hispanic an haitan drivrs

 

I just resigned after over two years as a company driver and gave my two week notice. But when I checked my status on their internet it said I was terminated. I will waite to get my DAC report and see if it reflects the same. Greatwid like any other company wants a butt in the seat and have little or no care about the driver or their pay.

 

They don't care about any of their truckers,O/O or company drivers.I don't see how they can last much longer,with the way they are going.Alot are quiting.They are also getting the name of "Bottm Feeders"their agents under bid each other,rates are the low of the lowest.Good luck with whoever you're going with.

 

My husband was an owner operator with greatwide. They asked him to run a load for them and they even rented the truck for him. Well...he died enroute while driving for them and greatwide is saying they aren't covering him with workman's comp or the rental insurance. Even though he was technically driving FOR greatwide that time, they are treating his situation as "owner operator"...so basically, he's on his own. Plus, he died in October and I still haven't received his escrow back. They said it was in the mail....

 

I'm so sorry about your husband.I'm even more sorry to learn that GreatWide is even lower than I already thought.The escrow is supposed to be paid back within 45 days.How was GreatWide paying him for that load?Was he getting 75% of the gross,or were they paying him per mile?

 

Yes, Greatwide is greedy, you know what they steal from driver's at each terminal helps to pump up the TM's bonus. Funny how you could get shorted out of the next pay bracket by 1 mile...

 

ONE mile,thats carrying greed to a whole new level.
