Just wondering Rich so training is broken up into 2 two week stints? So you have 2 different trainers? Did they tell you how many miles you can expect to drive a day while in training?

What did the road test consist of? Is there a lot of backing? I'm going to a tech school and we have a lot of students and it's hard to get a lot of backing practice in. Is anyone sent home from orientation for their skills? or LACK of?? Thanks for keeping us up-to-date - please continue - and I hope everything keeps going well for you.

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted. My computer died and I just pulled a Macgyver to get it working again until I can make a permanent fix on the AC adapter when I get home.
I am halfway thru Evo II and I love it. We went from Savannah, GA to New Jersey, to Wisconsin and now we are on the way to Denver! After that unload tomorrow, we are headed back towards the Southeast so I can be taken home.
My new trainer is a strictly-by-the-books guy. He really reminds me of Tommy Lee Jones' character on Men In Black. He can quote you chapter and verse of the whole Driver's Manual, it seems!
Most of this week, I have done most of the driving. We have averaged about 12 hours a day of driving with me doing at least three-quarters of it. Basically right now he is letting me do all of the paperwork with the customers, call them when necessary, and handle all of the Qualcomm stuff so that I can be sure that I know what I am doing when the let me go out on my own.
I can see that I have made a good choice in coming to Roehl. -
I can't wait until I go to orientation, everytime I here someones experiances in orientation or on the road with Roehl it makes me want to get there sooner. Sounds like I picked a good company along with all you other guys on these forums that have just hired on or are going with Roehl soon.

I just got a day at home to spend before i go out again with trainer. i have lots of post so i will try to adress all in one. On my first day of orientation we had a test on hazmat. It is just on knowledge. Roehl doesnt require a hazmat endorsement. after that wedid a pre trip inspection then went on a road test.we did some left turns,right turns, go on the interstate for a short drive. then when you get back to the yard you will back truck in to a spot. You will love the people that work there. you will get a date and time when you will go out with trainer. The miles you drive all depends on where you are going. You will drive for alot of the time but of course the trainer wil drive also. they do this so you dont use up all your time being able to drive. also you have to build up stamina for driving long hours. It was a great experience.

Well, I am back home! I had a great time and really learned a lot. I go Wednesday to take my road and written tests and get assigned to a truck. I will leave from there to hit the road!
All the positive things I read about on here about Roehl have proven to be true. I am excited about my decision to go with them. Now I have to go spend some money on coolers and DC converters and all the fun stuff a trucker needs (at least I am telling myself and my wife it is a *NEED*!!). -
I hope to be in that same boat in the near future.
How much did you have to spend? (total expenses for the trip)

How did you and your trainers work out eating. Did you eat out every meal, or did you bring food with you? If you ate out, what did you spend on average per day?
