In the winter of 1990,I was a welder in a factory which made air compressors, which does translate into kind of a boring existence.During one break in the lunchroom, myself and a few of my friends overheard a then 34 year old woman explaining to her co-workers about strange happenings at her new recently purchased home in a town called Lafayette,Mn,about 12 miles north of New Ulm,Mn. She seemed genuinely shook up on her having to go "home"so one of my friends, always thinking up new excuses for a party, suggested to her we have a "ghost-buster party"., her, being no stranger to the party lifestyle, readily accepted. That Friday after work, two carloads of us drove the 12 miles to her house after work, and proceeded with,-partying down.. We started making remarks to the "ghost" and I asked the woman where she had the most experiences with it. After she informed me that the location was upstairs in the bedroom(?),I went upstairs, hurling insults at the ghost the best I could, and after 2-3 minutes of this,I id my best Poltergeist impression, and declared,-THIS HOUSE IS NOW CLEAR......No sooner than having said this,I was gripped with an icy cold grip on my shoulder which chilled me to the bone, and it promptly pushed my 235 lb. frame down the flight of steps...Although alright,we then ran up the steps and tried to find someone up there hiding, and found no one.. Two weeks later, the woman came to work with a leg cast on,claiming "something" threw her down the steps.. She left the house and sold it......
anniewilder Thanks this. -
A college boy in Souix Center, IA was involved in a fatal car accident under a bridge (not sure what road) near the college. He loved his Nestle Crunch bars. It's been said, by friends of mine who attended that college, that if you lay a Crunch bar on his crash site, walk up and over the bridge returning to his site, you will find an empty Crunch bar wrapper completely undisturbed and looks to have never been unwrapped.
No personal experience, just heard this many, many times.anniewilder Thanks this. -

I have heard this one with a different twist to it in different parts of the country, but anyway, this is how we heard it when I was 13 years old or so..... Not so long ago,on a very rarely travelled river road on the outskirts of my hometown,a 16 year old took his date to above said road for a little "alone" time. After on the road for 3-4 miles, the car ran out of gas,as he was always meaning to get the fuel gauge fixed, but kept putting it off as money was tight. After some heavy teen-age romance,he informed his date he would walk to the nearest farmers house for gas,and instructed her to keep the doors locked in his absence. Hours passed,an before her falling asleep in the darkness of night, she thought it strange she heard branches scrapping the roof of the car,as their were trees nearby, but they were all very tall, but sleep came anyway.... When she was awakened by police officers in the morning daylight, they informed her not to turn around and look, but curiosity got the best of her,and when she looked, she saw the corpse of her boyfriend, his feet bound and tied to a tall tree branch, the breeze swinging his lifeless body, his fingernails scraping the top of the car,his face all bloody and mangled from the crows who had started their work...The killer was never apprehended...
Just a footnote......I scared many a date into my arms telling this story at night parked on that river road..
Blue jeans and anniewilder Thank this. -
This is a great legend, too. And your last sentence is a nice touch. : ) Can I use this in my book?
Thanks, Annie.
p.s. When I was a kid, I heard a version where the girl was locked out and used her long fingernails to try to claw her way back into the car while trying to escape.
