Another thing that ticks me off is the comment period is only 30 days! We should all step up and say something NOW, before it's too late. And since the whole thing claims to be based on safety, explain to these FMCSA monkeys how the new rules will make us LESS safe. If we ALL speak in a clear and concise manner, they will have no choce but to listen!

If there has ever been a reason for ALL truckers to unite and act as ONE, THIS IS IT. If we will not act on our own behalf, we deserve whatever they sling at us.

When was the last time the government listened to the people? Think: bailouts.

Sometimes I wish trucks had one of those counter machines you see in Taxis. Except when you flip the lever on it doesn't count a taxi fair it starts counting work hours.

If such a thing was in a truck I would have it based on the 70 and restarts with no 11hr or 14hr rules. I think all to often drivers are competing with and racing against arbitrary clocks especially on Elogs.

Also I would like a system that does not make your logbook a time card. IMO that is not what the real purpose of a logbook is. Sure pickups, deliveries, and fuel stops or other things like inspections should be noted and logged.

But for example if someone is a Security Guard and they maintain a log of when they patrol that doesn't mean their log book is their time card. Or the logbook saying when the bathroom at the Flying J was last cleaned.

So I just feel that the merging of the time card with the logbook is a flaw with the whole HoS concept and should be done away with and replaced with a more modern and simplified system.

I know this is a stretch. But i bet those legislators would REALLY listen if somehow we would all unite and strike for 2 weeks!!! (except emergency medical supplies.)

Just shut this whole dang thing down!!! This entire country would be begging us to get back to work! And those rule makers would have no choice but to take us seriously!

    Captain Canuck Thanks this.

If you HATE the current HOS system, you need to LOBBY HARD.

The UNIONS are lobbying hard for sure.
Be sure to thank them for what THEY caused us to have right now.
