Someone hasn't been to Virginia lately. They have changed almost all the interstates outside of cities to 70MPH.

You sir are the idiot. You allegedly run 2700 miles with your own truck and you can't make a check? You must be an idiot. I run 2700 miles and pay a lease payment and I make about $1000. Who's the idiot????? I can show my statements to anyone because there is nothing to hide. You must not have been one to run very hard or you are not smart enough to manage a logbook because in 8 months here I have had maybe 3 weeks where I only ran 2700 miles unless I took 5 or 6 days off that week.

Well lets see here, yes i run 2700 or more a week, but all i do is LTL. And yes i make a check every week. But my gross is double yours because of the LTL. And if u like u can come to my home and i will show you what i clear a week. Besides what you pay in payments and maint fees in 1 week is my monthly payment on a truck and trailer. You pay 375 - 425 in payment and .10 a mile in maint. every week. So if you like i can give you my address and see if you show up.

It doesn't matter what your gross revenue is it matters what your net is or your profit. You want to call me an idiot but the fact is I make a good living here and you could not so who is the idiot?

Let me tell all of a driver I ran into here. I was picking up a load of Heineken in Elizabeth,Nj on a Saturday morning and as I arriver there was a Risinger lease truck leaving there as I was coming in. We just waved at each other. The load was going to just north of Detroit for fcfs starting Monday morning at 0800 which was only about 600 miles away. I knew I had all kinds of time so I was only running about 60 mph to save fuel. That same truck I seen passed me 4 times going about 70 each time on the way to Michigan. When I got to the customer Sunday afternoon there was that truck sitting there in their driveway idling. It was about 60 degrees. I turned around and decided to go to Meijer a few blocks away and get groceries and see a movie at the movie theater. About 4 hours later I go back and there he sits still idling. I sit there for a few and decide I am gonna go to Applebee's and get dinner and watch football. About 4 hours later I go back and he is still idling. Next morning at 0800 I start getting unloaded and he was still sitting out there idling. I get my next assignment and knew I should not start my 14 hour clock til closer to my pickup time. At 1200 I decide to knock on his door to make sure he is ok so he then checks in and gets unloaded. We are talking and he had been at Risinger about the same length of time as me. He is doing nothing but complaining about how he is not making any money. He idled 24 hours straight and I never idled at all. I drove 60 and he flew by me doing about 70 several times. Fcfs receiver and he waited to unload til 5 hours after they open so he is not very motivated. I make good money but I run smart. Some people will never make money because they aren't smart enough to do it.

This story is so very common place. Have head it from a few O/Os here at Crete. Just proves what BK2 wrote is true. Some people aren't smart enough to do it because they can't or won't plan. BUSINESSMAN FIRST, DRIVER SECOND!

Let's do some quick math......idling for 24 hours with fuel averaging 3.45 a gallon = $83 x 6 days that is just shy of $500 dollars right out of his pocket. No wonder he isn't making a profit. But this guy wants to blame the system as to why he isn't making money.

like i told bigkid2.i do get the 2700 plus a week, and i gross twice what you make because of the ltl i do,and yes i make a cheek every week. but i hav no doubt that its take home clear for me what u gross. so lets do the math here, average $ 2.03 a mile plus surcharge at 2700 miles a week, and my miles are true miles and i know for a fact yours is not. so dont get on here and blow smoke up this ole mans ###. so you get on here and brag about ur $1000 or 1300 a week clear cks, then figure ur drivers wages out of that and ur down to $200 400 a week clear profit for the truck, thats chicken feed and ppl. like u r the ones who ruin it for the ones who want to make the serious money.

Who is that you work for claiming $2.03p/m??? Oh let me guess, you don't want to say right?? Why does SOMEONE ELSE'S good thread always get turned into a " he must be lying, and oh yea at my new TOP SECRET JOB I am averaging $2.03 a mile blah blah blah" just let the man post his experience and if someone comes on this site and decides to go to work for the company because of one person's positive thread then let him.
