This is not good. I don't know what they expect you to do. If your hearing is good enough for the DOT, it should be fine for any company. Maybe I'm naive....

My point exactly! The DOT says I qualify, I'm fit to drive. But the trainer is saying I'm too much trouble.

You got it right, Spacecoast. I am not being treated fairly, but it's not Central's fault. That's what has to be understood.

    Lady K Thanks this.

My right ear is my bad ear. So when I'm driving, that's the one my trainer has to talk into. He needed to apply a little more wind power.

Lady K, I just noticed that you're keeping a log of who you've met!

    Maybe we can contaminate others.:biggrin_255:

Why don't you just ask for one of those trainers that likes to yell at their trainee? :biggrin_2559: Plenty of them out there. Every time I have a conversation with my dad it can be heard blocks away. He's too stubborn to get a hearing aid. :biggrin_2555:

    ###### man! Sorry that happened Wedge! Sounds like your trainer is acting like a little beotchhhh! What's his truck #? Maybe we all can keep an eye out for him and fix his hearing and or eyesight! :biggrin_25525: I think its wrong that someone's career rests in the hands of some "supertrucker". After you meet with your doctor have a serious talk with the safety dept and maybe the head of dispatch. You are cleared to drive by DOT standards and a doctor. Anything short of that is discrimination for a debilitation. Do not be afraid to take it to the top at Central. We did several times. Sometimes that's all that is needed. Also ask for a different trainer.

On a side note, here's something interesting, I too am deaf in my right ear. Never told anyone and I just fake it for my DOT physicals. I just play it off and blame it on my allergies saying my sinuses and ears are clogged so you have to speak up. This actually really worked to my advantage. Since my right ear is deaf when I drove my wife would sitting in the passenger seat blabbing away at me and I never knew what the hell she was saying!

Keep your chin up Wedge! At the absolute worst we will find you a job with another company. Hang in there buddy!

Wedge, xlsdraw and sammycat Thank this.

Just need to agree on a plan beforehand. This has nothing to do with driving, just sharing of information.

Tell me what you want done, I'll get it done. :biggrin_25525:

He didn't want me on his truck.
