Don't fall for there lies. Say no to the pumpkin. Man what a lieing bunch of folks. As an IC they call it you would be out of Indiana unless they have changed in 4 years which i doubt. THey will keep you running regional freight every where except where you live. I hauled more 300 and 400 mile freight with that bunch then i did with any other company i leased to. It used to be real good on the KC dedicated when i first went over there man did we have it made only ran KC palnt to plant and every once in a while some scrap loads. THen some one got real smart and we started running all customer delivery and hand unloads and then the mile went away it just really sucked and i got tired of seeing Chicago every day they would run you between ohio and wisconsin. Look for a small local or something or look at Ozark i have a freind that runns out of memphis with them i don't any perticulars about there O/O package but they seem to be pretty good company in that area.

Expedited freight, and car haulers still make a decent buck I hear. You try going with a regular freight company Your gonna lose thanks to the brokers, and the companies greed .
Fuel, tolls, taxes, plates, repair rates have all increased to the point where owner ops make quite a bit less than company drivers. Sell while you still can, and save yourself the inevitable bankruptcy unless you can find a nitch in the fields mentioned. Definately research it. -
thanks for everbodys imput,i have not bought a truck yet i am a co.driver for roehl.i tried leasing one with them lasted a year,but went back co.was thinking if i bought a cheaper tr.i might do a little better,but roehls a good co.to work for as a co.driver,sounds like that may be the way to go for now.

Did you mean they won't hold your hand and you have to hustle?
Because Landstar does not hold your hand, and I've ran into a lot of very short term Landstar O/Os that cannot handle the fact that they don't hold your hand to drive the truck. -
are you saying that landstar is a good co. if you dont mind working,and being left alone sounds good to me
-
Landstar gives you the tools, its up to you how to use them. Qcomm is not required, but a cell phone is. They won't bother you.
YOU access the load board and YOU accept the load. YOU decide when and where to fuel, YOU decide when and for how long to go home. YOU decide how far you accept to dead head. And YOU decide on the freight rate, acceptable or not.
Keep your logs legal, drive safe, and keep the other paper work up todate. You won't have any problems.
The ONLY reason I left them was to take a local job and be home with my wife. -
thanks for your imput on landstar,local is what i want,i cant find the right job around here{union city tn.}
