We do the Cummins ISX # 20,000. The new KW's with the Paccar motors, first one # 20,000 then 40,000 as per Paccar specs.

12 to 15 thousand miles religously.

And oil samples to me is nothing but a joke.... Why sample the oil? Just dump it & put new oil in.

Every 50,000 miles using Delvac 15/40. My idle time is usually 3% or less... makes a big difference.

When I rebuilt the engine in September the shop owner said he had never seen a high mileage engine so clean... most parts wouldn't have even needed to see the parts washer.

Here we go again! :biggrin_25520: 10,000 miles on mine. will go to 11,000 I never cared what the mgr recommends. none of the mfg's want you to get a million miles on your engine. call a detroit dealer and ask them about fuel additives. they will tell you they DO not recommend any additives anywhere in their engine. ever see a truck gel up cause it did not have anti gel? I have. so what would you do, follow mfg suggestions & let truck sit til warmer weather? same with cat & the other mgf. they will say DO not alter the e.c.m. or drill out the restrictor. any of these things is not good for the engine, they will tell you. so when it come s to what mfg recommends, it don't mean nothing to me.

I make a personal calculation. I bet I spend less on oil changes than most spend on cigarettes. since I never smoked, I will spend it on early changes. when I had my truck inframed, the first thing shop mgr asked is how often I changed oil & did I use any additives. I told him over 11 years & over 1.3 mil miles, just doing the same thing. he told me the internal engine parts looked extremely clean. he said I could of went to 2 mil from the look of the bearings & other internal parts. I attribute that to 10,000 mile oil changes & I did add 1, sometimes 2 gal of lucas only at service.

250 hours in summer and 500 hours in winter. Miles (or kilometres) are irrelevant.
