and that was submitted by an individual that has only been driving for 3 years per his profile. He is already aware of the unfair labels and attitudes that the groups such as parents against tired truckers, joan claybrook and ANYTHING that she is affiliated with, the ata, etc. ALL have against the American trucker.
It would be difficult to procure a ride along for Ms.Huffington simply because of her ideology even though she is quite attractive for her age. Those libs can test the most ardent conservative w/their thought processes while in close proximity-

THAT sums it up in the first sentence.

I do wish the journalist the best though because he may just be legit yet giving him the benefit of the doubt may confirm most everyone's fears.

    --UPDATE--

***** I visited his site and the man is legit and seems to desire to write a story using his camera. His life's passion does indeed come from the lens.
Best of luck in getting your story sir and I will assume that you will tell it from the trucker's perspective and not give it a left slant. Could prove to be a most interesting article-

and then those I-26 coops in Hendersonville tend to negate, almost, the balance that the Conservatives add.

I always pucker up as i approach ANY north carolina scale regardless of knowing that I am legal-

Good luck with your project, Jerry. I'm a NC photographer also and have actually considered doing a similar project myself. While doing my research I decided to actually enter into the profession as a driver and will be doing so later this year. I'm not entering just for a story, but rather to combine three of my lifelong desires into one career. Hopefully you will get a crack at your story and follow up by posting a link back here once published. I won't jump to irrational conclusions about your intent until I read the actual article. I've worked both sides of the aisle and know how frustrating it can be. :biggrin_2556:

Wouldn't it be much easier for the Huffington Post to link to several articles/threads on this forum than to do research and send out a photojournalist? I mean the three examples listed above have all been beat to death around here. How would another article on a political news site do any more damage than the words straight from the truckers mouths here? :biggrin_25523:

One thing I've noticed that many truckers and many HuffPo readers have in common is they are both prone to excessive hyperbole. :yes2557:

X#1......yes I have only been at it for 3 years....but I've have been fortunate enough in my life to have known many drivers and to be related to a few. My grandfather started off driving for one of Capone's outfits and was a milk tank driver until he passed, his son my uncle Don ( RIP) died out on the road, my father drove some, my father in law started back in the 60's and drove till the 90's, my wife also drove for a while. Alot of my knowledge I will say is second hand but I have felt the sting of those words thrown at me as well.
Being a working musician as well as a trucker I get the double edged sarcastic attacks thrown at me, long haired freak, bum, etc and then get the abuse of being a trucker...dirty looks from 4 wheelers, etc.....luckily I have thick skin, growing up in a military family will do it for ya....so anyway...ya'll be safe and have fun out there

and to those that are yet to enter the field and think they know what awaits.......well you'll see once you're out there

I would not state it exactly as you did as there are far more unrealistic stretches coming from HuffPo readers than all of the trucker tales combined.HA!
That was a fair analogy however considering.

I do wish the best for Jerry after visiting his site.

I've been stunned by the difference in people's reactions in meeting me from when I use to say "I'm a youth and children's pastor" and now when I say "I'm a truck driver". It's absolutely amazing. lol

Some drivers parked at truck stops will give you a pretty good introduction about the trucking lifestyle for rookie drivers. Just ask to borrow a drivers CB, give it two clicks and when they respond just ask them which truck you should go to. They will give you all the lowdown that you want. You may want to take a pillow to get comfy, 'cause you may be there a while getting the scoop. :biggrin_25524:

I think if he was really interested in getting the real point on trucking then he would prefer and old timer as to a newbie that only knows what a school has taght him.So it seems as though its only a slam job he wants and not a total picture.Or maybe just someone that doesent know enough to see thru his BS.
