...found out that any theft is a lifetime disqualification of employment.
In '96, a friend and I swipped a lawnmower from a guy. Although it was a mist., it still counts. I thought it was erased off my record after 10 years.
    What a bummer!

Weren't you a minor at the time? Why is it showing up? I thought minors' records are expunged when you hit 18.

Exactally what I thought. Yes, I was 15.

*edit* Oh, a BR check wasnt run. The man I spoke with just asked questions and I answered them. Although I thought it might not show up if a check were run, I wasnt going to lie to them. Do you know something I dont?

I know Roehl is picky. I give you credit for being upfront with them but the whole idea of a minor's record being sealed and expunged is to give them another chance.

Contact the jurisdiction where you had this record and see what the status is. If it's sealed and/or expunged then I would give yourself a break, call Roehl again speak to Carrie or someone other than that guy you talked to before or apply online.

I can see if you were an adult when you had the theft conviction but you were a kid. Give it another shot before walking away.

Also I would do the same with any other company you look into.

AFAIK, they are not erased automatically when you turn 18, you have to file with the court to get them removed.

Be back with the a link in a minute......
