They had me go to marshfield for my DOT physical, its a 100 miles from home. I didn't want to complain about driving that far since I was applying for a trucking job lol. At least I got to see the terminal and meet the recruiter so it wasnt just for the physical.
-
Yeah, not complaining it just surprised that it was the closest place that Roehl accepts(from what the guy said at the outside caompany) that set it up.
Had hoped to get it sooner tho, hopeing it won't end up knocking my orientation back anymore.

I'm very close to letting recruiter know that I am ready to go. He said he could probably get me in early February too. He told me I would be either going to Georgia or Wisconsin for orientation 8 days $600 paid and then with trainer for 10-13 days $90/day. I can't wait to get this going! Maybe I will see you there mcarpe!

I am expecting I will go to Gary for my orientation, but who knows.
Either way good luck to you, I hope it works out well for you.

FYI, I just got my CDL earlier this week after finishing school and I want to go with Roehl. I spoke with lady at Roehl today regarding orientation and she specifically stated that Gary, IN held orientation for their flatbed division only, while Marshfield was for dry van. Not sure about reefer or curtainside, but it sounded like they were held in Marshfield as well. Just thought I'd point that out in case anyone was wondering.
-
Yep, that's why I expect will have orientation in Gary

Well have orientation date, tentatively Feb 14th unless an opening comes up before then.
It will be interesting, I hear Gary Indiana isn't the nicest place on earth, but it's all good not going there for a vacation lol. Hopefully will get a trainer straight from there, guess we will see about that when the time comes. -
Its more of a you got in and a set date, who cares about your short time in gary IN. its just a small step to getting OTR.

When I worked there the dispatchers had to go attend load securement in Gary. It's not all that bad, we left to head to the terminal before the traffic was bad, and we were done so early that we were back to the hotel before traffic backed up. What I would recommend is find out what truck you'll be assigned to. Give it the once over and see if it needs the shop for anything. If it does call your new FM for the first time. After they read the expectations to you, let them know what needs to be fixed. You should be able to get the truck in the shop and have all the problems fixed before class is done.
Zangief Thanks this.
