    ....and turning in my keys.
May has been a great experience and everyone there has been great,I have no complaints but I landed a job with another carrier on a dedicated account that is just a much better fit for me.
Brooks is a two hr drive from home on a good day,if Portland traffic is fouled up.....well you know how much longer that could be.
My new gig is out of a distribution center just 27 minutes from my home which is amazing considering where I live out here in BF Egypt lol.
All country roads, not even a single stoplight to get there.
It's as close to home as I'll ever find a driving gig short of driving log trucks.
I'll only be driving the NW in 4 states (OR,WA,ID,MT) and get home every weekend plus I was told I'll have about 3 trips a week with many of my 10hr restarts at the Dist Ctr. so I'll be able to buzz home for the night in my personal rig and sleep in my own bed shower and eat at home.
It was a no brainer,I gave notice at May with a resignation letter and it was accepted well with an offer to come back if things don't work out.
Best wishes to all at May,it's really been great but I must move on and do what's best for me and my family.
    Regards......Dean aka: Y2K

PS: Any of you newbs looking at May are looking at a good place to start.

Good luck to you Dean. A local gig is what a lot of us out here look for.

Good Luck Dean. All the best to you.
I am in the first week of CDL school and am looking very hard at May Trucking as my first company to drive for.
I have talked to Voni already and have a pre-hire in my file. If all things go well and I test out in 9 weeks, I am hoping they will take me.

Take care and be safe out there.

Keep in touch with the recruiter and hang in there,I could have hired on with several other companies right away out of school before May but I waited a few weeks for them to call me in for orientation and believe it was the right move.
    Good luck to you brother.

    Thanks Y2K.
I am only 45 minutes from May's Payette office and this would work the Best for me.
I have gone to the T/A truck stop in Boise several times now and have been doing loads of research and all the May drivers I have talked to have been great guys and answer all my questions. I hope class goes by fast and I get get this new career rolling. Looking forward to my training time with my driver/trainer and really learn what trucking is all about out there on the open road. I know there will be a lot of headaches and time spent away from family, but after being in the military for 21 yrs, a couple weeks or months away from home is something we have learned to adjust to. The kids are all older now, 18, 20, 22, so the need for me to be home every night isn't the same as it was when they were younger. As a matter of fact, at there ages now, they probably prefer me being away :biggrin_2559:

Take care brother and hope to see you out there some day.:yes2557:
